    Headlight aiming on D2a

    Hi all,
Changing bulbs on the D2a seems to cause the aiming (set by the dealer)
    to go off.
Anyone got any ideas on how to re-aim? I know the two adjusting screws
move the integral headlight container, up and down, and in and out, but aim at what/how?

    Nicky,
Just set the aim at the garage wall, or any flat wall etc with the vehicle parked on a flat surface & adjust so the aim of both head lights are at the same height. There are measurements etc that are a std but i dont have them at the moment. Just aim them so the height is the same & does not tend to head in an upwards direction too much.

    Cheers

best advice i was ever given was that using a headlight aimer is useless, find a little used road, head out there at night and adjust till they look right, after all, you're the driver, and you're the one who needs to see where you're going

apart from that, as long as you're not dazzling oncoming drivers, if you like what you can see with your freshly adjusted headlights, you're fine!

...of course, but there is an upward angle to the left from both headlamps, should these overlap, and how do you "see" straight ahead to set this?

I agree with Sprint. Find a quiet dark road, park on the side (straight) and do the adjustment so you can see what it looks like. I covered 1 side to make it easier to see the beam that was being adjusted.

If I remember correctly Up&down is the inner of the two adjustments

Are you sure everything is as it should be with your light cluster? When I change a bulb on my D2a the aiming remains the same - I thought that was the whole Idea of the 2 tabs and the locating pin - this is supposed to be user serviceable and there is no mention in the handbook of needing to re-align and as I said, I've never needed to.

    cheers,

With German and Japanese build quality, i could expect precision, but hey,
we are talking English workmanship here.

So are you saying that yours has some play in the locating tabs/screws? Mine's pretty tight - all three screws have to line up.
