    Fitting springs & shocks.

    Hey all,
Are there any hidden gotchas when fitting new 2" lift springs & shocks all round on a D2 myself?

Have got the rave guide and have had a read at the previous threads on here and tech article on discoweb so thinking of giving it a shot myself over the weekend since local fitters want $300+ for it and can't do it till late next week.

Looks reasonably straight forward, and have got spring compressors. Thinking the man problem will be getting the car high enough off the ground to get access - block of wood on top of the jack time. Is there anything else I'm likely to need or can it be done with the usual basic tools, a single trolley jack, stands & spring compressors? Anything else to look out for to make sure i don't take my head off with a flying spring?

    Cheers

    Al

    Hi
I'm in the same boat, I am looking to change suspension next week but I have rear air bags, thanks to Tombie's instructions that should be straight forward. The front springs look like they might be a challenge. Would love to find out some tips.
    Cheers Matt

One tip is that if you remove your front cross member you can get your springs out and in quite easy, just keep an eye on your abs/brake/sensor lines, you can un clip the sensor lines if needed. this saves a lot of work with manual spring comp.s . you can space your cross member at the same time
    Hope this helps

Make sure your vehicle is well supported on the stands...we don't want to lose anyone

Watch your lines specially with the rears. Disconnect ABS and remove calipers if needed.

Undo sway bar links both sides so you can get the full droop on the suspension.

Use your bottle jack to stretch the suspension down further so you don't have to use the spring compressors...there is little room for movement with the compressors on and it is so much quicker without them.
