As stated in the MY03 D2 handbook, fuel tank is 95 litres, but as many of you know you can dribble more in

Diesel & petrol tanks are 95 litres

Fuel light comes on with 9l left in tank for diesel,& 14l left for petrol.

I have never got down low enough yet to get the fuel light to come on. Most I've put in was 87L and the guage was down to maybe 1/4 tank left or a bit less, with no fuel warning light showing ... yet I can drive 200-300k's before the needle moves off full ... 500km by 1/2 ...

... what this is all telling me is that the D2 fuel guage is anything but accurate ... at the above rates & guage positions, I should run-out of diesel BEFORE the guage gets to zero

I guess I need to get it low enough to get the fuel light to come on, then fill and see how many litres I can get in (I always squeeze fill until it's up to the top of the filler neck) ... but 9L left for a fuel light ON ... makes me worried about running out when least expected as with an 87L fill, I should have had 8L left ... but no fuel light

    and from light on--
    I get about 35kays then-

but my fuel gauge doesnt move for the first 100 kays,,,
Same, about 80-90k mark the guage starts to move, well actually plummet.

Interesting with the tank size, I don't have a LR book in my D2 so I could'nt check, however I would say my light is coming on earley then, as I am only ever putting in 80-85 litres after I have driven it for 20-40k's on the amber light.

Need to search further as 95 means I still have 10 odd litres left, and I don't want to find out when empty actually is. Also think all the rubbish that It would pull through at teh bottom of the tank.

It's a new 4.6 (warranty replacement for the previous one) and this one is averaging around 13 LHK on the highway, and around 18 LHK around town (Canberra).

what you say about 'pulling rubbish from the bottom of the tank' is relevent as the fuel pick up is flush on the bottom of the tank ( on the D2 TD5 anyway ) so it's always picking up from the bottom
