Curious case of the self-destructing safari window
Anyway, we're sitting having breakfast at William Creek the other day, just as the sun is coming up over the horizon. It's been a cold night, and the sunshine is welcome. All of a sudden there's a loud "pop" as the sun hits the car, and No.2 daughter standing near the back of the Disco yells out: "The window's broken!" Sure has. There's a cricket ball-sized hole in the right-hand safari window and a spray of glass on the ground for about 3m where it's exploded outwards, and the rest is a jigsaw of fine cracks.
We covered the remaining glass with gaffer tape and punched it out, cut out the seal and patched up the hole with rubber sheet and more gaffer.
Question now is, where is the best place to source a new safari window for a D2a, and who's best to fit it seeing as it's basically using specialist black goo that I have no idea where to source.
Good trip, by the way. Only other failures were a rear tyre that picked up a piece of wire about 140km east of Alice Springs, the "PRNDL", "M" and "S" ligths flashing each time we put the Disco in reverse (restarting the car would fix it), and the corrugations causing the front right suspension hanger to fail on the camper trailer.

Any auto glass place should be able to repair the window, it is the same system as the rear windows on many vans and most modern screens.
They may also have the glass as well. If you're still in SA (assuming that's the William Creek you're talking about) then try Triumph Rover Spares.
