    Angry TD5 auto gearbox problem

Bought a 2003 auto TD5 recently for a trip to the Simpson leaving Friday. It has 125k on the clock. Had a major service done by a company just outside Brisbane recommended by several other members.
They did an auto gearbox service, loctited the oil pump bolt, fitted a greasable front shaft, re-positioned the air-con drain and changed all oils etc etc.
Have only done 100klms since and the gearbox is giving problems. When I pull up at lights, there are 2 very loud clunks as it changes back to first. Under acceleration you can also notice the changes but not as badly. The box was changing really smoothly pre the service.
Taking it back in the morning so they can re-set the electronics which they say control the changes.
Would appreciate any feedback on what else it could be.
    Thanks.

Sure the problem isnt in the new double cardon tailshaft uni - they may have had the apprentice fit the unis and he lost one of the rollers? Or fitted a shaft with a worn spline?

    Let us know -

    TD5 Auto Gearbox Problem

Found out what the problem was. Servicing the auto and refilling the oil must have dislodges a small piece of crap which despite the filter found it's way into the valve shuttle body and blocked one of the valves. Gearbox was trying to make full pressure changes both up and down at nearly 200psi when normal changes occur at around 35psi.
Maybe I shouldn't have worried about the auto transmission service.
They replaced the valve shuttle body with a reco one and it is fine now.
Better than a gearbox rebuild I suppose!

Yep, you have about $6,000 more available for your Simpson trip

I'd say it was a good outcome - it's typically the case when the autos have not had their fluids replaced regularly, a fresh batch of fluid can cause gunk to be dislodged.

But it's always better to have fresh fluid than not... so you did the right thing and just had a bit of bad luck. Enjoy your trip!

The other thing that can do this is if there is a prob with the electronics, such as loose connector plugs!
