    HDC not working

Have hopefully repaired ABS modulator switch fault causing episodic three amigo misery for some time (will report the fix shortly) I had hoped this would also correct my HDC fault. When the HDC is switched on, I get the blinking light and chime continually. (I have selected low range)
Is there some other likely fault to cause just the HDC to not work?
Does it need a "nanocom" type reset after the visits from the three amigoes?

    Cheers and TIA

    Steve

I had the same thing mate - just get under the truck and pull off the connectors at the transfer case end - all of them if you dont know which is the CDL actuator one for HDC and spray them all and the male sides with contact cleaner and stick them on and pull them off again a few times to clean, then try the HDC in low range...I needed to do it a couple of times and it worked fine from that point on.

    Cheers

Since having CDL internals installed by an LR specialist, I have not been able to get HDC.
I suspect the Hi/Lo Range switch may not have been re-installed as it may not have had the facility for the hi/lo switch in the changed housing (it came off a P38 I think).
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so what is the best solution?
I really liked the HDC function and want it back.

If its a Td5,when selecting low range, the travel-respond of the throtlle (pedal) changes dramaticaly, you have to push it real hard.
If the response is the same for hi and low range, then the hi-lo switch is faulty or not conected,of course with a nanocom you could test it at once.

Mate - if you have had an output housing of a D1 installed it does not have the high low switch which you need to have on if HDC is going to work. Just get the LR man to put in a dash mounted switch (I have a second HDC button below the original that does the trick) that goes into the harness that will still be near your transfer case for the high low range switch that WAS in your D2 output housing. If you still have a D2 housing then he probably didnt re-connect the switch block terminal or otherwise it is making a poor connection. Just crawl under and see what you can see...there should be 2 switches...one diff lock the other low range/high range. Assuming there is only one and your diff lock light works then you need that dash mounted high low switch.

...it is pretty cool using HDC in high range!!! Great fun but not when anyone is behind you. It would be pretty cool for crawling down a range with a tow load on as long as you used gears also so as not to overwork it.

    Cheers

    Thanks Ozscott
Since posting this question I have had a good think about what to do here.
I have decided to install a reed switch underneath the high/low lever gaiter, and mount a magnet on the lever itself. Whenever in low position the magnet will pull the reed switch closed.
Then I just have to wire it back to the existing switch connector near the cdl.
Alternatively, I could bypass the connector, and wire it directly back to the SLABS ECU.
I will decide which way to go once I get the centre console out.

Yep, this sounds correct. Currently rigging up webcam and laptop to have a peek around the top of the transfer case and check. The switch hack sounds like an even better solution!
    Thanks
