That's what I did. Free flowing muffler and stock resonator and she sounds great with no drone at cruising speed. Part throttle acceleration sound is very sweet as is the odd pop on overrun - manual. Cheers

    Thank all for the response.
It looks like the go is to leave the resonator in place, and install a new muffler.
Given the condition of my system (my muffler also has a hairline crack), I am thinking of replacing the tail pipe/resonator with genuine, and replace the muffler with lukey.
Any ideas how much this would cost i.e. new system from y-piece to rear?
    Cheers,

    Genie Headers

I've just bought a D2 SE7 and will be fitting a set of Genie Headers to her ... really the breathing for these motors is terrible. $575 gets good noise and better breathing. Louder than my 12MYD4, but it's a tow/beach/dog car only...
Does anybody have expeirence with the Genie's?
    Thanks

My 2c worth, I've just cut everything out, centre replaced with pipe & rear resonator removed. Sounds great, drones a little inside the car but I haven't extended the pipe to exit outside the car yet so once I've done that I reckon it'll be just right.

I've got them. Better economy and more torque as well as better throttle response. These were added at the same time as the rest of the system.

Did the same, replaced the centre with a Lukey Muffler drive in drive out $160.00, sounds good, little drone in the cabin but hey that's why I bought a V8.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

10 Toes, banarcus - I just an email response from Genie that they don't do headers for the 4.0L V8. So what engine do you have *confused*?
