150 killer wasps!!!!!!!!!!!! the NM would certainly give you what you need for overtaking! Just don't kill ya prop-shaft!
Thanks for the info Justin.
A tombie chip is what I am after, need to find a flashable ecu first though. I am only after 130KW maximum, nothing too stupid, as I am keeping the Km's of the vehicle in mind. Like I've said before, the car has not had a hard life, so I am starting to think it will be fine.

Wow that's impressive. With the bigger tyres, my 5th gear is pretty much now just an overdrive gear...well that is what it's there for.
The Warping of the exhaust manifold, is that due to the higher EGT's? Does chipping increase the EGT's, because I always thought that boost is kept the same, and only the fuel mapping is reprogrammed. Some clarification on this would be helpful

Hi Hendrik,
The exhaust manifold warping/ studs breaking Happens just as much to chipped as non chipped Td5's IME, so don't worry too much.
The EGT's will rise due to more fuel at different times being injected, but it is the programmers responsibility to keep it within a sensible range. The addition of a pyrometer is a very good idea so you can keep an eye on temps when climbing big hills or towing loads etc.
The boost is set by the wastegate, with a chip you can increase the boost slightly by adjusting the wastegate actuator until it goes into limp mode(22+ psi) and then back off a bit. The bigger increases are possible with higher flow/ bigger intercoolers and a 3" exhaust etc but that starts to become costly.

A question or two if I may? Hendrik's TD5 is a 1999 would this not have the non flashable ECU under the bonnet? Secondly can you pull out the old non flashable ECU and plug in a flashable ECU without any dramas?
I am keen to do this mod at some stage.
Cheers
DaveF
Hi Dave
Yes I do have a non-flashable ecu, and while you can chop them it is just much easier to get a flashable one chipped as they are much smoother and just a better piece of kit. I want to get a flashable one for mine, the problem is just finding one that is suitable. The manual flashable ecu's for a D2 are rarer than hens teeth at the moment.

Hendrik, the fact that you are talking about it means that you'd enjoy it. You're wasting my bandwidth! Just do it!![]()

DaveF,
It will need the injector codes changed and if your vehicle has a 2-wire throttle pot (early vehicles did) then that spec will also have to be changed. These can be done using a Nanocom.
