Thread: Click Click sound - AFTER new front CVs and half shaft and drive shaft...

Hi all - the new HD greasable unis are in the front drive shaft as of 2 days ago..nice. As of a few months ago the beast had new front CVs and half shaft. It used to make a lot of clicking before the CVs were done on take off...but despite all the above it still makes the odd "tick" or "click" once or twice on take off, especially on a hill or if rolled back slightly before take off...its a V8 manual with 150k...I wonder if it is just some driveline flex or sorts owing to the miles and it doesnt really bother me given that there is no excessive backlash (the whole thing is very tight really, particularly for a manual) and all the important bits, save for the diff has been replaced. It sounds like it comes from the front of the vehicle.

Any thoughts? Does anyone else have this - can only hear it with the window down

Just a couple of simple ones to check

Check the wheel bearings for play as they have settled in
Lay under the car with a socket set and give all the "body to chassis" rubber mounts a nip up .....
