    Steering Protector

    Hi all,

I'm looking to acquire a steering protector for my 2000 TD5 Discovery and would like to know what everyone else is using, where they acquired them and are you happy with the type you have chosen.

    Thanks in advance.

    Tony

I've been looking into this as well, but its not really a critical requirement for me at the moment. Someone on ebay sells one from the UK, can't remember the store name but it was not too expensive. As far as I know, the D2 ones are cheaper than the D1 guards.

er not over here there not ........!!!

Very few people make a D2 steering guard (although availability is getting better) LOADS make them for the D1 as it also fits the RRC as well.

I have a Mantec one on mine, same as Land Rover fitted to the G4 vehicles, fits VERY well and has been more than proof tested......super bit of kit!!

What ever one you buy, make sure it has some sort of reinforcement behind the actual plate that runs between the chassis legs, coz if it dont, it simply bends easily when clouted and also looks rubbish very quickly, made that mistake on my D1 toy..

The mantec one has a fully welded full width frame behind the 8mm ali plate, and its as strong as anything,
