    Auto transmission dipstick

I guess there must be a good reason, but why can't we have an automatic transmission dipstick like every other car?
I've been scratching my head about this for a while now.
Has anyone put one on, and if not, why not?
    Cheers,
    biggin

I have fited RR P38a dipstick tube assembly to these Td5 model D2's. The dipstick ends up coming up the passenger side rear of the engine behind the turbo shroud and acoustic cover.
You will need a pan, dipstick and tube from a 1995 to 1998 P38a RR.

    Thanks JC,
Does the same go for the V8.
Probably should have mentioned that earlier.

Well, theV8 D2 should just take a plain old D1 V8 oil pan and tube, as the trans are the same in that respect, and the engine and firewall are similar...

Your [mine?] main concern should be the pipe joins(joints),,,

slow leaks (lack of fluid) will show up in, er, lack of movement,,,,,
