Is it posibly the spare tyre or carrier?
I had a (sorry) patrol (real sorry) do it once.
Cheers.
Have noticed a really annoying rattle in the rear of my Discovery and its got me stumped.
First I thought it was the tow hitch so I took it out and it still rattles. Then I thought it was the D schackles I leave on the tow bar so I took them off and it still does it.
I only notice it on minor rough surfaces like driving from the street into my driveway and small bumps like that.
I have had a King's 2'' lift done and replaced all the shocks with Bilsteins, and I remember reading somewhere that it may be the shocks rattling, now I cant find the thread again. Got a feeling Slunnie mentioned it, so I might do some more searching but any other thoughts would be much appreciated.
Oh yeah, its got new backing plates to cos they were a rattly pain but fixed em for now, so still at a loss.
Cheers,

I think the noise is down to low for the spare mate. I hear it most at low speed over small bumps probably cos there is less engine and road noise, and if I stick my head out of the window, it sounds like its just beneath me but back a bit.
Cheers,
take your rear bumper off and have a look down the ends of the chassi rails... you probably have a stone in one of the ends
cheers phil
Thanks Phil,
Just crawled under to have a poke around and I can see what you mean about rocks finding there way into the end of the chassis rail. I was going to stick on air hose in there to blow anything out but think I found the culprit before I got that far.
I gave the car a push up and down whilst under there, and the top mounting bolts on both rear shocks had around 2-3mm movement(up and down), in them. Gave them a tighten up and will see how it goes for rattle now.
My kingdom for an 18mm ring spanner.
Thanks again guys..
JC suggested this for a different LR with the same symptoms,,,
it appears new shocks need to be re-visited,,,![]()

Thanks Pedro,
It would appear to be the case mate. I reckon I got nearly 2 full turns out of each one to get it tight again, until the spanner slipped off anyway.
Note to self...dont use washing powder as hand cleaner if skin missing from knuckles.![]()
I was just about to suggest you look at the shocks, cause I had the same issue and had a look at mine today, I've always had this annoying rattle clunk and after fixing all the other clunks, this was the last one I fixed today, even though the shocks bolts were tight, I guess they just were not tight enough
Anyway I'm really pleased now, no more clunks, I guess you are too.
Baz.
