    Recommended Fuel for 2002 Discovery 2 V8

Can I use 91 RON fuel and E10 Ethanol Blended fuel in my 2002 ES V8 disco.

I noticed Land Rover recommend 95 RON if your motor is high compression and 91 RON for low comression, how can you tell which compression motor you have?

Does anyone run the ethanol blended fuels and how do they perform and does it raise your fuel consumption?

I currently get around 13l/100km from the V8 on extended highway driving and I'm to scared to calculate the usage on city driving.

    Cheers,

    CJT

the compression ratio (cr) should be stamped on the engine block passenger side near the dipstick. high comp is 9.35:1 and low is something lower.

I use 91 RON on the low compression V8 without problem. I have tried 95 on occasions to see if there is a difference but I have not noticed any. If your getting 13l/100km highway I reckon your doing OK.

Go to this link (Cal-VIN), put in your VIN number, and it should tell you which engine it is, "high" or "low" compression.

I use 91 in my 2000 V8. Tried 95 a while back and it ran surprisingly worse, despite everyone elses recommendations. Went back to 91 and it felt much better.....but thats just mine, and like most women, she's a bit tempramental at times!

Hi I just checked the stamp on mine 9.38.1 is this a higher compression motor?? I know the engine was replace somewhere in its life before I owned it.
I have just put Shell E10 into it "94 octane" seems to run okay but will I risk damage??
