    My next check is to get someone to operate the push button to see what happens when the solenoid is activated.

    Soleniod opens it when it is shut and so I need to check.

    Did that and the solenoid is A-OK. Must be the blighter of the little plastic clip bouncing up and down.

    Had this prob on my D2 ages ago. The plastic bit that guides the pin through the hole disappeared!!!! This meant that the pin stayed in behind the panel and obviously wouldn't engage the catch.
    Now...the Hi Tech Fix......
    I used the pointy bit of a pen...the bit that screws in at the pointy end locating the nib. A bit of shaping and shortening to make it the right length and hey presto..... that bit has been there now for over 2 years and never missed a beat lol

    Mine WAS the plastic gudie/retainer bouncing up and down - but not any more.
