Matman on here runs this size just for off road use on his d2 with a 2'' lift, i'm pretty shore they threw his speedo out 10km's and sapped the power slightly, know rubbing on standard off-set:)

yeah i run 285/75/16 Silverstone M117 extreme sports on my d2 2 washers put on steering stop ever so slight rubbing on full compression my speedo out by 12km/h ,what you get when you go the bigger tyre is increased speed in low gear so you end up entering obstacles a lot faster which is not a good thing speed = breakages so reducing your transfer case is highly recommended, normal driving if you have a manual its not as noticable but power is lost in take off and steep uphills ,you can also get 4:11 gear box change which will improve the later ,
most people recommed 265/75/16 your power loss is only slight and your transfer case speed is slightly faster ,

I have 255/70 r16 on 7" rims on mine...
Would like 255/85 r16 like micheals running but got to get the bar and sliders first.

With the bigger tyres (265/75x16), how is the Speedo corrected?

This was the reply from Slunnie when I asked on anouther tread.


"I think the Truspeed unit may be the only one known to work on the D2.

The D2 is a little more complex as it maintains a 1Hz diagnostic baseline frequency through the computers - if this is not passed through which some correction units dont, then it will keep faulting.

The speedo is also driven from the pulse that comes out of the SLABS computer, not the ECU."




Currently I use a peice of paper wedged to left of cluster;)(Checked against GPS).
Must look into it at some stage down the track.

Yep, the Truspeed is the go. They come from Iceland or somewhere random like that, but they are available from 4x4Intelligence in Melbourne. These also have 2 speed settings, and that allowed me to gain engineering approval for different size road and offroad tyres.
