    Wet Floor Near Driver's Seat

Hi recently noticed that the carpet in front and behind drivers seat near doors is soaking wet. The disco hasn't seen rain or a hose for a month.
Was wondering if it could be coming from air conditioning overflow pipe or windscreen washer unit as it it not coolant. has got me stuffed.

First post, eh? Welcome to AULRO!!

I had the same some time back.
Turned out to be the aircon drain plugs were blocked (or something like).
Apparantly it's an easy fix, but don't ask me how...!!

The guys and gals on here are nothing short of awesome.
They'll have you fixed in no time at all.....

    Cheers,

I'd also be looking at the aircon drainage channel...

Worst case, it'll be the heater matrix about to give up the ghost!

To unblock the aircon drains you will need to crawl under the vehicle and look up either side of the front double cardon joint. You should see 2 rubber hoses hanging down. Poke a wire up each. If they are blocked you will get a stream of water down on your face.

I have the same problem in the area infront of the front passenger seat. The underlay under the carpet is very wet. Could this be the aircon drains too? If so, what diameter are those 2 rubber hoses and what does the front double cardon joint look like (please pardon my ignorance)?

On my D1 they look like rubber nipples approximately 3cm long the end is cross cut to allow the water to drip out but prevent water from coming in. The cross cuts will often get gummed up with mud etc. Just rubbing the end of the nipple between thumb and index finger is enough to break the seal or the aforementioned wire is the blockage is higher up.

    Cheers,
    Steve.

Look at your front drive shaft, the double cardon joint is on the front drive shaft right next to the front output of the transfer case. Get under, look up you will see the two hoses protruding from the floor. One to drain the drivers side and one to drain the passenger side.

Thanks to those who've responded. I think I've found the two hoses. They come out from the side of the transmission tunnel and the one on the passenger side is above the exhaust? Unfortunately they don't appear to be blocked. There is no sign of a blockage at the opening, and i've pushed some electrical wire up about 6 or 7 centremetres.

I've lifted the carpet up to dry it out so I'll stick the hose around the outside and see if water pools in the footwell.

    Cheers
    Martin
