    excessive fuel consumption!

ive done a few k's in the D2a now and i still cant get better than 15L per 100klm.

so far ive replaced the maf, with a cheap one from the UK. it made the car drive better and feel more responsive. both the new maf and the OE one have very simmilar readings in the nanocom, 49@idle and 525 under load. the gear changes are deffinatly better with the new maf.

the car has done 160thou its had it engine and wiring harness replaced.
its now chipped and minus center muffler and egr system.

the fuel consumption has improved by 1L per 100klm after the ecu tweek!

where else can i look to improve the consumption?
the bloody 90 had a massive chip and used only 13/100

    cheers phil

    Phil,

I have a similar problem. Had my ECU reset to standard a while back and fuel consumpton increased. Reprogrammed the ECU with no difference (first time I reprogrammed it consumption dropped). Have disconnected the MAF sensor and found no difference in the way the motor runs (apparently the sensor disconnect does not produce a dramatic difference with TD5's and is more noticeable on V8's.) Cleaned the sensor - still no difference.

    I'm stumped.

    Cheers,

    Franz

Could there be a problem with the auto maybe causing drag or a blocked thingy in the airbox (you know that twirly thing) wastegate modulator, or cracked pipes leading to it, AAP sensor, I'm assuming you have checked most of these.

The thing you could try is go back to the standard mapping and do a couple of tanks to see if it is the upgrade.

EDIT; what about the turbo, have you shortened the rod to increase the flow now that the centre muffler, EGR and upgrade is done!!

Oh yeah and the intercooler hoses have you checked them?

    Baz.
    Cheers Baz.

The thing you could try is go back to the standard mapping and do a couple of tanks to see if it is the upgrade. as i said in my post, i have 1L/100 better economy with the upgrade in, and a standard D2 shouldnt get 16L/100 anyway

EDIT; what about the turbo, have you shortened the rod to increase the flow now that the centre muffler , EGR and upgrade is done!!yep done that

Oh yeah and the intercooler hoses have you checked them? not on the inside, but my boost pressure remains steady under the same conditions.

    Baz.
this is why i ask, as i have done most of the usuall fixes

    Phil

    Are you running bigger tyres?

    Is the Odo 100% correct?

Are you using a GPS for km's travelled ?
