Shock Replacement- what's good what's not?

'm looking for some help/advice etc.

I'm in the process of looking for some replacement shocks for my TD5 and am not sure what to go for. OME, Boge, Koni, Billie's etc....

Boge come stock and apparently they make a heavy duty shock is it worth replacing with the same for going for other brands? Has anyone rplaced the stocks shocks with Boges?

    Any advice would be welcome.....

Suspension stuff who seem to be getting a good rap on the forum also have a shocker.

They call them "Sus Stuff Shocks" but they are actually another brand which i cant recall at the moment

    $440 for a set of 4 - 35mm bore and a 5 year warranty

I cant comment if they are any good or not tho

Ditto but Konis (can't remember the cost) - was told much the same thing. I had Koni's on my D1 which were brilliant so, "when you're on a good thing...stick to it", as they say...

Bilsteins. I always go with something that has a strong history. They will not need to be rebuilt as often as other shocks. And it depends on what you want to use your Landy for..

Oh, and you can get them from the states for under $550 delivered.

    There are a few.

    eBay (see link below)
    shock warehouse

BILSTEIN SHOCKS STRUTS LAND ROVER DISCOVERY II 99 - 04:eBay Motors (item 140354247926 end time Nov-01-09 11:53:49 PST)

Buy a steering damper while you are at it (if they sell them). You wont regret it.

I had bilsteins on my 1987 RR from when I got the car - they were from two owners ago, and the car felt as good when I sold it as when I got it (I only put 40k on the car, the previous owners put on 100k+?). So, whilst they are a bit more expensive initially, they don't need replacing as frequently. When my 03 LRD needs new shocks, Bilsteins will be going on!!!
