DUST
DUST past the air filter. I know this has been discussed before but I have trouble finding the thread. I have coated rubber with grease and still have a little bypass. Seen a method of moving pickup area, does anyone have same problem?? and how to rectify
Thanks Greg

I had this problem on all the D2's i have had & actually solved the problem, the last cape trip was a good test & after the dusty trip, had a clean air box downstream of the air filter for the first time, although there was a little bit of fine dust on the plastic mesh on the MAF,but it was minimal.
I did three things before the trip.
1 had a safari snorkle fitted.
2 put grease on the rubber seal between the air filter & the top of the air box
3 fitted thin strips of foam on the airbox where the rubber seal on the air filter fits on to the bottom of the airbox, there is a lip i stuck it onto. This made the airbox seal tighter around the filter.
I have tried the grease before on a previous cape trip & it didnt help much.
Do a search on D2 airfilters & you might find some more info.
I believe it was a combination of all the above that solved the problem particularly 1&3
I also did the Cape trip on one air filter,& it was a lot dustier than a previous trip two years before,& used three. The difference was the snorkle.
Also have noticed from previous threads on this site, that this problem is common on D2's,but rare on defender TD5's......strange.
I think they have the same filter as the D2
