Where abouts are you? Are you anywhere near Toowoomba?

Here is a design that I have been working on.
Thanks Slunnie for dimensions of the mounting points on youre website.
I am after a dual wheel carrier and therefore will be placing all lights in the rear bar as shown, also want to get the number plate on there out of the way as well as two tow points.
I am also looking at extending 75mm x 50mm RHS around the corners to the wheel arch and cutting the quater panels.
Any comments anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
Latecomer to this thread with a few questions about HD rear bars.
- I saw, on one ebay supplier's site, a warning that their bars were not ADR approved. Is that a concern with custom HD bumpers generally? Implications?
- Anyone know what the insurance implications might be? Esp in terms of 3rd pty
liability. I imagine it would do a fair bit of damage...
- Anyone know of any currently knocking about for sale or prepared to knock one up?
- Or happy to pm me cad or other design files I could take to a local weld shop?
Mine is a D2 V8 2001 and I'm in Sydney. I am amazed to not find anything under $650 domestically considering they are $330 in the UK (or $440 inclusive of shipping!).
Thoughts welcome & appreciated.

Check out APT Fabrications on the web. Theirs are around the $600-650 Mark IIRC and they also do one with a rear wheel holder.
They're Brisbane based. And have a presence on here too I believe.
Some lucky bugger just scored this one on eBay for $600. Pity I was spending my hard earned on steering boxes, radiators and intercooler...I'd have enjoyed tarting up the rear end of my Disco with that bar.

Britpart do one for about $600 thru local suppliers ( here in Perth). I've just ordered one for my d2a as I busted my plastic one out bush.
Graeme Cooper is the cheapest reseller that I have found - Land Rover Defender accessories from Graeme Cooper Automotive in Sydney - $566.40!
I assume you refer to this one:
APT Fabrication for Land Rover parts - Discovery 2 Rear Bumper
That is not made by APT Fabrications. it's just the Britpart steel bar that they are reselling. See my post above, it's almost $100.00 cheaper from Graeme Coopers!
Again, that is just the Britparts steel bar that has been modified with different taillights (LED units) and a swinging wheel and jerry can holder carriers. Personally the wheel carrier and jerry car holder would annoy me as means you have to move them out the way every time you want to open the rear door! What's wrong with the spare wheel being mounted on the rear door? The standard mount can handle a 33" tyre when flipped and LRA sell a mount for 35" tyres if you require them.
It's not as big an issue as with front bars. Most accidents are front on - the bar being approved is important for the front as it can effect the crump zone and airbag deploying. Accidents at the rear of the vehicle are generally reversing and speed is quiet low (much lower on average than frontal accidents).
In saying that, I haven't specifically looked at what the ADR, NCOP or VSB have to say on it.
I put one of the Graeme Cooper steel bumpers on about 18 months ago, and his price hasnt changed in that time.
They are very good, I was and still am dragging the arse end of my TD5 in tight departure angles and the plastic bumper really wasnt up to that. I finally reversed into a bollard and cracked it properly so renew with the steel one and havent looked back.
One thing I have noticed is the little corner bumperettes can ping off when the steel bumper drags - less flexi than the old plastic one I suppose and that poings them off into space much to the amusement of my Mitsubishi friends following. I'm working on a mod to the bumperettes so this doesnt happen - I hope.....
