    replacement Rear Bumper/Bar

I need to replace the original rear bumper with something with more clearance no lights.

    Any suggestions?

This is a bar that i have made (even sold a few to some of the forum guys), main section is 100x100 RHS with other angles and plates to make up the shape.

This one has lights but you could do the same thing without lights

Adrian's rear bar is probably the best looking DIY bar I have seen, and I have done a fair bit of research on rear bars for D2's. 4x4intelligence also make a really good looking bar, but it is expensive. For more clearance, you could look at chopping the rear 1/4 panels and placing a bar there braced to the chassis.

This is mine, it is made from 1.6mm sheet, but boxed on the inside in several places which makes it light but also strong. This bar has had some very rough treatment, and somehow it just stands up to it...not bad considering I did no design work for it and built it in a day with some scrap laying around the shed.

I will be replacing this bar soon, have plans drawn up on CAD and everything...its just a matter of finding the time to do it.

Thanks for the reply - This looks good - are the lights that you refer to the small LED units - that's OK as well - I just didn't want the large original units there!

I was wanting to cut the rear side panels up a little to provide more clearance.

This was/is the first ever aftermarket bumper made for a D2 in Oz...

When I get time the reverse spots will me flush fitted into the barwork.

It was based on the one I made for my D1..

Hope this gives you some ideas...

Here is mine. There have been a few who have modified this to their own specs.

Thanks LRDV8, Tombie, Slunnie and Baz.

Think you might have given me something to tackle over the Christmas break.
    Cheers .........

Thanks Slunnie - what are you using for indicator lamps?

Any chance you could email me a better/clearer CAD file?

    regards, Daniel
