Whatever small amount you'll lose by increasing the intake length, you'll get back by cooler air into the engine.
Just make sure the connection from filterbox to snorkle is watertight!![]()
I usualy make a research before i order something for my disco, this time i did the opposite.
I ordered a mantec snorkel, but a (jealous maybe?) mate told me that with a snorkel - no matter what brand - i 'll lose performance (my disco i mean).
And here is the question, have you encountered a decrease in perfomance after fiting a snorkel?
Tell me pleasee.. i am a newbie
Thanks.

If you drive in dusty areas you will save the air filter from quickly getting clogged with dust.

TELL your mate to start speaking from the mouth end. I have just fitted a snorkel to my 02 TD5 if anything better performance above all peace of mind air intake now not coming from within the wheel arch [check cainsboy in introductions]![]()
Had the Safari snorkle fitted to the D2 a year or so ago & didn't notice any performance changes.
What i did notice is the dust in the air filter is dramatically reduced in dusty conditions,& a lot less worries about deep water crossings.
I am actually kicking myself as i should have had one fitted from new...
I self-fitted a Safari one within weeks of buying my new D2 in 2001.
A bit scary thinking of hacking into the mudguard but was easy with the provided templates etc.
Yes, make sure the join between the old underguard air intake and the new snorkel is well sealed. I must have used something like Sikaflex (polymer) and was very generous with it.
Just recently I had to get a new windscreen and you guessed it ..the snorkel had to come off ( including drilling out the pop rivets from its mounting bracket on the A-pillar).... so that the A-pillar window trim could be removed for access to the glass.
Cutting away the sikaflex with a blade knife took a while!!!
I reckon the snorkel noticably reduces the dust in the air filter.
Can't see it from the drivers seat so no view restriction.
Cheers

I think my performance reduced also with the Safari and Safari/Land Rover snorkels (they are the same apart from badging)
