    Amigo's and Me!

I guess it was inevitable, no matter how much I assumed that it couldn't happen to my D2. The little bstards have reared their ugly, wart ridden, scaby little faces. Could I impose on a fellow aulorian around Perth with Nanocom to plug me in a diagnose?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    cheers

    Amigo's and Me

I guess it was inevitable, no matter how much I assumed that it couldn't happen to my D2. The little bstards have reared their ugly, wart ridden, scaby little faces. Could I impose on a fellow aulorian around Perth with Nanocom to plug me in a diagnose? I have posted this in the WAulorians section aswell.

I should mention there have been no intermittent issues at all, they just appeared as i shifted into low (auto) coming down a slope on the powerlines track. Came on, and stayed on. Have checked fuses, turned iginition off and on, and currently have the battery disconnected to clear but do not hold out much hope.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    cheers

    Hi Hastykiwi,

Check out my thread http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...gos-again.html . If you go to page two you will find a link to images I took when replacing shuttle valve switches & most important replacing the shuttle valve seals to prevent hydraulic fluid from damaging the new switch block http://www.aulro.com/app/showgallery...0/ppuser/16375 & run as slideshow to see comments. If you want to check the shuttle valves to confirm that they are indeed causing the 3 Amigos (more than 90% chance as this is my second shuttlve valve switch replacement in 4 years) do the following.
    1. remove the modulator plug and connect multimeter probes to the pins shown in image with multimeter. Aligator clips suggested. You should see 3 K ohm on resistance range
    2. start engine & get someone to press brake pedal part way. Resistance should drop to 2K Ohm
3 Press brake pedal as hard as possible. Resistance should drop to 1k Ohm (all approximate)
Note. If you don't see the initial 3K Ohm, then hit modulator block with rubber mallot whilst watching meter. If reading intermittent then you can bypass internal connections using Option B from LR Virgin Islands site (or Good Oil on this site) instructions, repair internal connections, also detailed on site, or get a rebuilt ABS modulator.
If you need help PM me.
    Cheers..B

L.Andy. You rock! May be down to see you, depending on time available.

Bruiser, you rock! too. From what i have read, and for gods sake correct me if I'm wrong, I see two main camps here.

    1) Those who have had intermittent recurring issues, which typically can be removed with a key off/on manouver-only to come back later, which have usually ended up being a factory issue related to the shuttle valve switch earth. This conclusion has usually been arrived at after trying 5-6 different solutions involving wheel sensors, shuttle valves, the whole modulator block, etc.

    2) Those who have had no amigo history at all, when the fault occurs and it is a single mechanical issue, as a genuine failure (through wear and tear) of a wheel sensor, shuttle valve etc.

With the lack of any history and the sudden absolute occurance of the problem, i lean to a single mech failure. Just need Nanocom to diagnose.

    Is this a fair summary?

    cheers

    Nanocom will reveal the issue.
    Could be several issues.
Consoult the list of vollies with gear in the Electronic Diagnosis area, may save some driving.More than willing to look at yours.
V8 or TD5???? Havent tried a V8,have heard the Nanocom will talk to the other ECUs in a V8 D2.
Its a nice drive down here if you havent traveled this way.

    Update

OK, I rolled out to see Dave today and he plugged me in for diagnostics, and cleared the faults. I should say here that Aulro, once again rocks, and a big thanks to Dave for his help.

The faults listed were an intermittant left front wheel sensor, which seems reasonably self explanatory, and a '18-03 ecu ground or reference ground fault'

Have read some of the literature and the most common reference to an earth or ground i can find is the issue of the SVS circuit board.

Any thoughts or contradictory opinions welcome.

    cheers

The SLABS ECU ground / earth is inside, behind the passenger kick panel. 10mm nut. The other Earth point affecting SLABS ECU is inside the engine bay, between the Air Filter box, behind the head light, you will find 2 x 10mm nuts again. Pull them off, wire brush, then lanolin or WD-40 or whatever floats your boat and refit.

The Shuttle Valve fault may be rectified when you clean your Earth points, but maybe not.

    Cheers
