A/C cold but not as cold as some?
Hi All, Can anyone tell me about the A/C in the D2V8? Mines cold but could be colder, is this just a disco thing? anyone else with the same problem? To me it seems funny where the compressor is mounted, pretty hot smack bang at the top of engine? and not much insulation around the pipes?
Just curious before i get it checked.
Cheers Ted.

The gas maybe slightly down. One reason for this is that most people don't run their A/C over winter.
The compressor for the A/C has a crankshaft which is turned by the fan belt. The shaft seal on the crankshaft which separates the A/C system from the atmosphere works on a wet seal principle..That is, the seal must remain constantly wet with refrigeration oil from inside the A/C system. When the seal does not have oil splashed on it regularly from the running compressor, it goes dry and this allows refrigerant to escape from the A/C system. As soon as you run the A/C, the seal re-wets itself and self repairs the leak thus allowing your A/C to keep running but with reduced cooling capacity.
This is a very common problem for most car A/C that is not running cold enough
999 out of 1000 times, this is the only problem if your A/C is not cold enough.
If the gas has leaked from the system this way, you can stop the problem in future by running your A/C once a week for ten minutes(rain, hail or shine).
Where the compressor is mounted has no bearing on on its efficiency. I could give you the reasons why, but then you may as well go and get your trade papers.
Just get it checked.
