LR service made some recommendations that would require attention. I could understand items such as Rocker Cover Gasket leaking (why they didn't replace it buggers me as I was charged $1266 for the service!)
Does anyone know what "Back to Back Seals & Intermediate Orings Leaking" means & where to find it?
They also reported that engine mounts had bottomed out & front differential pinion seal leaking. How difficult to replace mounts as well as Front Differential Pinion Seal?

B,
Well done with the shuttle valve job, yes the parts are cheap and about 30 minute job. About $190 or so all up usually, so where $1800 comes from I DON'T know, unless they are replacing the whole modulator???
Anyway, the' back to back' seals refer to the gearbox output and transfer input seals, and Intermediate Orings are in the transfer case, a common leak in a D2 of reasonable mileage, some worse if a history of towing etc. LAst one I did was on a Defender Td5,(Same set up) transfer case out, new intermediate shaft Orings, locknut and both output seals, (Rear output flange replaced aswell) and input seal. Also, on noticing bronze bits in the oil I replaced all the centre diff thrusts, all the bearings were in perfect condition, and only minimal wear on high range selector sleeve and gear dogs. This vehicle had 290K up.
All up about 7 hours work, including cleaning the case as it was putrid with mud and oil...and replacing the centre diff washers. Parts were less than $300 IIRC, includes new output flange and all seals, thrust washers, Orings and oil etc.
Engine mounts, well if the vibration is chronic then yes, replace them, otherwise not critical. Front diff pinion seal could also be engine oil dripping down from RC gasket, so make sure first, but if a pinion seal req replacement, it is a relatively easy process as it has no crushable preload spacer, and the seal is easy to access and fit. Use only genuine or 'Corteco' brand which is OE anyway.
Good luck
