Not sure but have you only striped the sensor?
A bolt can be fitted in it's place.
I always cary one for this porpose, use a flat washer and the rubber seal from the sensor.
Do as search for the size but i think it's "unf" thread.

excellent suggestion. Yeah it is just the sensor. I found a bolt that will fit, packed it full of washers as it was a little long, added the rubber washer and primed....now she wont start. might try priming a few more times but it does not appear to be leaking...

OK well primed a few more times and it finally started. I have squashed the rubber washer pretty bad but it might do until Monday.

Take some thread tape or some pushbike tube or piece of rubber with you, if it leaks you should be able to push the bolt thru the rubber to seal it again..or wrap the bolt with the thread seal may help

Supercheap Auto,s in Darwin sell the fuel filter for a d2 and are open on a sunday..Not sure about down your way..
