Rear / Boot Door will not open

I am having issues with the rear door on my D2. I can not open it from the inside or the outside.

I did a search on the forum and when I eventually got it open, pulled out the lock and cleaned it etc. As soon as I closed it again it is stuck.

I recently took the spare wheel of the back the door seems to be tighter since then, almost as if the door lifted without the extra weight.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to atleast get it open. I can not remove the lock again until then.

It is possible to get into the load space and pull the door rubber clear of the door. Then you can operate the child lock mechanism. Doing that a few times sometimes frees them up.

Thanks BigJon, I did try that when I had the lock out of the door.

Cleaned it, moved all the parts numerous times etc.

I might just need a new lock.

Are you sure the lever in the outside handle isn't sticking?

I have the internal door trim removed, so can manually move the lever on the lock itself and it still will not release.

Does anyone know if there is some way of opening it from within the door frame?

maintain some upwards and outwards effort on the door.

    jiggle the handle upwards

    it'll come eventually

If you think the door has lifted slightly try and push down on the handle trim. Maybe get some one to push down from inside.
Plan B, go for a drive on a rough road and try and shake it a bit.

I "wash" mine in CRC and when dry use graphite powder(lasts about 14months).Repleced the bolts to hex heads also.
It's now a annual maintance item.

Well I have tried lifting it, pushing it, hitting it with a rubber mallet and no change.

I will just try and find some rough roads for the next few days and see if it comes lose.

Cycle the lock(with key buttons or snib handle) also, seemed to help mine.....eventually

Sounds like you have tried all the traditional tricks. FYI when my lock failed it was replaced under warranty so they do fail completely.
