We have just come back from Dargo and have had the same problem. We have a cargo barrier on ours so we were up the creek a bit on this one. The worst thing was the nappies for our 1 year old were in the back. . We got a yakka stick to pull the inside lever but it didn't free it either. I tried lifting it up, down, in out all with no avail. My wife then comes along and has a go, I say "It's no good I just tried............ Oh never mind,........... well done" !!

This is the result from dust. Bloody Land rover club was camping in Dargo and a quick trip to Talbotville resulted in dust, dust and bloody more dust. I now realise the seal on the back door isn't the greatest! I borrowed some CRC from a RED 130 camping nearby and flooded the lock whilst manually operating it with a screwdriver, (It was actually a hammer but a screwdriver sounds more sensible), It has freed the lock up tremendously but still seems to bind a bit. The trip home on the high plains rd is all dirt but we were able to get the door opened once we got home, so as far as I'm concerned this problem is ticked off the list.

So, the door opened again and loosened the latch so it did not close as tight. That worked for a few days but now it is stuck again.

    Anyway, ended up purchasing a new latch today and just thought I would show some comparitive prices I found;

    Part Number FQR100570

    Rover Spares $231.00 + freight
    Les Richmond $177.89 + freight
Local LR Mechanic $190.00 + freight

    Ended up using Karcraft $164.01 + $13.20 freight / Total $177.21

Karcraft also sent me there entire price list is anyone is interested.

I recently took the spare wheel of the back the door seems to be tighter since then, almost as if the door lifted without the extra weight.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to atleast get it open. I can not remove the lock again until then.
Hi, I missed this post. There sometimes a problem with the rear D2 door lock - when pressing unlock on the FOB it makes all the right noises and the inside button comes up. but the door stays locked.

If these are your symptoms your problem is more than likely in the child proof lock on the side of the door. The way to open it is to firstly pull out the door seal from the inside top, then get a hooked piece of wire or right angle scriber and try to jiggle up the child proof lock. To make things difficult there is a rubber block in front of this as well (which I have removed on our D2) Whilst doing this, keep trying to open the door from either inside or out.

Ours used to get into this position whenever we tried to upen the door whilst still locked. The other thing which unjammed it was 10kms on corrugated roads with the door unlocked. We still have the original lock but haven't had this problem for about 3 years

Heaven help if there is a cargo barrier installed.

Erich, do we assume by your reply that the childproof lock tab vibrates down?
If so, could we jam something under it to prevent it from happening?

BTW, I have had the problem, & yes, I do have a cargo barrier!

Out of curiosity, shouldnt the child lock becoming engaged only make opening the door from the inside impossible?

The same as the child lock on the rear passenger doors?

If this is not the case and the issue is that it only moves slightly, could the solution be to just keep the child lock on as I know that I have never needed to open the door from the inside anyway.

    Does anyone know the answer?
