    front shock mount

For all those D2 owners out there that find it hard to get a wider range and availability of shocks for the front of our discos i have just bought these from rovertym which has made my variety of shocks open up.
Every brand which is out there can now be fitted
Mods this is not a plug just wanting to share this with other D2 owners
    i think its awesome
    and very affordable
    cheers Kelvin

I have been contemplating these adaptors for a while, the only problem I see is the closing length of the shock and the chance of it bottoming out due to it making the mounting position of the shock higher.

Did you buy the reducer bushes as well?

Hey guys, I have these installed on my car already and they work fine, although they look a little flimsy. Reducer bushings ? Reducing from 1/2" to 12mm... I just changed all fastners to 1/2" problem solved. I am also running the full RTE 3" kit with FOX Remote Res 10" shocks and Heim joints all round.

    Cheers George.

Most standard shock bushes are 13mm or 14mm, Disco shock bolts are 12m.

I have tried the Pro Comps on my Disco, they don't handle the corrigations very well and over a shorter time than other shocks I've used, will fail, as an offroad shock they are fine but for touring they get too hot.

Similar set-up here, but 12" 7100 Series Bilsteins and 4" Lovells...

I do have the RTE base mounts though, plus their ABS extensions...

Kelvin, My Heims are the standard ones for the FOX shocks and suit 1/2" size bolts. You will also need to machine up some spacers to centre it in the shock mount. I had some made out of 4340 Chromoly Tube, 1/2" Internal with about a 2mm wall or there abouts. I have one spare at home which i can measure up for if you like?
The trick i've discovered with modding a D2 is not to tell the shops you are looking for parts for that it's a Disco. Just say it's a project and you'll go alot further.

    Cheers

I would only run them if your shocks are running Rose (heim) joints. If you have a shock with an eye bottom mount, then just put the normal bar pin through the lower bush and run it as standard. RTE use these so they can run the Bilstein 7100 shocks with heims and likewise with Georges Fox shocks. If you have rubber/poly bushes, then save your money.
    Cheers
