TD5 Auto Cooler Upgrade

Yes about twice the surface area.

I have a D2a, I think it has the cooler as part of the radiator doesn't it? How does that compare efficiency wise to the earlier ones....?

No, cooler is the same as all other D2's, the D1 is smaller again:o

You should see my old unit - Not nearly as bad as SLunnies was when he pulled it out.. But pretty well 50% blocked externally with mud...

No air would go through mine. :(

P38 Cooler has screw on fittings, and I had custom high pressure hoses made by the local Enzed guy to suit....

Tombie2, are you happy with the performance of the P38 cooler? did you mount it to the origional points on the radiator tanks or make up new brackets?

Where is the cooler in a D2??? I assume with the intercooler between radiator and condenser???? Had a quick look the other night but cant see it.

From Slunnies pic, this would suit my RRC in place of that POS tube cooler... ;) Would probably make a good fuel cooler too for a TD5. Remove that and the EGR cooler and life is a whole lot clearer under the bonnet!

Andrew, it's mounted below the intercooler & is attached to brackets on the radiator tanks.

I have a P38 cooler but im concerned that the aditional weight may break the brackets off the radiator unless it has extra supports.

Just wondering if you finished the conversion Tombie and how it looked/worked. I just picked up the replacement D2a and it is an auto as I couldn't find any manuals. We do a fair bit of sand driving with a loaded car so I am keen to hear how this worked.

Worked out great, but in the assembly process there are no pics and its in a spot that cant be seen!

I do have to take the Bullbar off soon so might grab some snaps then.

Towing the boat (like a 2 story block of flats) at 2.3t over the hills etc caused no issues, I havent finished wiring the guage yet though, I have a sump temp guage in place, just needs some quick wiring.
