Im running 235/85 same height as 265's, you will notice a little bit of power loss up hills.
Saying that. its not that bad, since fitting the taller tyres i leave mine in 3rd all the time (hilly tassie) and shift into 4th along the flat highway sections of the road.
Driving mine this way im happy with the performance.

265/75-16 cooper STT's on mine, seems to be fine, did just rub the wheel arch liners on the factory bumper so they had to be trimmed, but with an ARB on it Im sure it will be hunky dory

What sort of mud tyre you going to get? Have you adjusted your rear wheel carrier to take the bigger spare? some photos of how to do this could be helpful.

I'm thinking of either the BFG KM2 or Maxxis Bighorn ($359 fitted and ballanced) but was shown a Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ ($350 fitted and ballanced) today.

Currently have 235/70R16 BFG all terrains.

The only concern I have is the front tube bit of the steps as they curve round under the wheel arch.

I have not exactly planned the spare wheel holder yet and will have to give it a wing.

I am about to do the same, I was looking at the Toyo Open Mud terrain but they are expensive $440 per corner. I am also a bit worried about them fitting when the tyre articulates up and down with panel damage but plenty seem to be running 265/75s with 2" and bars with no problems, does the slider, step protrude further forward than standard trim at the front wheel?
I did see somewhere on here a plate that fits on prior to the spare that lifts the wheel but may be something you need to manufacture.

I've got 265/75 R16 BFG AT's on my Td5 (with 2" lift). They fit great but rub on the radius arms on full lock (quite a disturbing noise ) so a steering stop adjustment might be in order!

I run MT/R 265/75-16 on standard mag rims for my off road wheels. I have a minimal lift, prob less than 50mm. No rubbing on any of the guards but the steering stops need to be adjusted to avoid rubbing at full lock.

power loss not a problem if you have a chip upgrade and I've left the bigger wheels on for extended periods.

just flip over the spare wheel holder and this size wheel fits on the door fine. you will need to drill new holes in the holder for the center bolts if you want to have 6 back on.
