    L/R Engineers at thier best

    Gday All,

Spent the day working on the car and found an absolute classic that im sure is just designed to make life hard or Stealerships more $$$

I did the front disc roters first and if anyone is interested the stud that holds the disc in place is 8mm by 20mm countersunk thread screw..Thread pitch is 1.25..I opted for a alley key head instead of a phillips head.

Ok next I removed the I/Cooler and then the radiator and the I/C came out relatively easy enough, but the radiator has an absolute classic.
The gearbox oilcooler is held to the bootom drivers side of the rad by a bracket with a screw going into a lug on the side of the rad.
You cant..or I couldnt get my had down inside there with a short screw driver to undo it so seeing as I had removed the grille to get the I/C out tried to go thru the front.Well guess what, the bracket is about 15mm to short to get a staight purchase on the phillip head screw so you have to go in on an angle..Great when trying to undo a screw, so I ended up bending the screwdriver and got it..more ass than class..

My bitch is this.. the bracket is slotted, so all that would be needed to make it a straight and easy purchase on the screw head is a 10-15mm wider lug off the rad.Its not used for anything else and is only plastic so cant imagine it would be hard to make the mould bigger or cost much more in $$$ overall..

Anyway I guess all cars have them but I would hate to have to do that by the side of the road or a track somewhere..

Thats my whinge, the fun will be putting the jigsaw back together tommorrow..

    Cheers Ean

Ive had my radiator etc out twice.Despite what RAVE says it can be done leaving the viscous etc un-touched.
One has to be VERY carefull not to damage the radiator core on the fan blades.I did on the second removal,I pinched the damaged tube off and soldered.Hasnt leaked yet.
New radiator and intercooler upgrade along with new viscous and waterpump are on the too do list.

    Gday Roger,
I never removed the fan. I followed Urban Pansers tutorial to remove the I/C then just removed the Rad after,I never touched the fan/ or blades getting the I/C out just leant the Rad against them so will see how it goes back together..
Not looking forward to putting that screw back in..

    Cheers Ean

I replaced my cooler screw with a hex headed one I had.
Can use a spanner, socket or philips head screw stick now

I found lifting from lower mounts and twisting gave more room to access, GOOD LUCK.
    Cheers, Kyle

Let me say it is much easier with the viscous fan removed.

What I did was, buy a 36mm spanner and make the viscous fan tool, it makes it so much easier.
