You will get a bit extra but if you over do it the ecu will drop the fuel to get the boost down again.
There is a bloke I think he goes by the user name BAS that does a box that fools the ECU into allowing more boost.
G'day was wondering if anyone would know if it is possible to raise the boost pressure on a TD5 D2 by tweaking the connecting rod from the wastegate to the vacuum diaphragm im only an amatuer at this stuff and not looking for massive power gains and want to keep it reliable can i do this without remapping the ECU?![]()

I have mine at 3 & 1/2 turns at the moment, makes a huge difference, you need to do this if you have a chip, larger intercooler, silicon hoses, EGR removed and a 3" exhaust.
If your standard, it will only slightly improved turbo spool up and be a bit more responsive and as slug burner said it will over boost when you turn it too far, but the ECU will protect the car buy sending it into limp mode, once that happens you need to reset the ECU, this is just turning the car off and restarting it again.
THEN
Remember when shortening the rod, 1/2 turns only, once the ECU sends you into limp mode, back it off 1/4 of a turn until it doesn't.

Baz,
I haven't tried this yet, but have done all those things bar the exhuast upgrade.
Will I see much without the exhuast upgrade if I adjust the wastegate?
I have read alot of diiferent opinions of if a 3' system will give a td5 any improvement, a 2 1/2 ' system seems to be better..
Will try the wastegate on the weekend..shorten=more boost..Lenghten=less boost..is that right..
Cheers Ean

I wound mine out on a standard setup and blew off my hose that comes straight off the turbo, replaced it with a better one and havnt had any problems, i found the power increase quite noticable, its alot faster off the mark and i can now sit in 4th easily up most hills (manual box) and also over taking is alot easier

Alright dumb question time..
How do I adjust the nut without breaking the plastic tail that fitted to the turbo end..Is it just that the nut has seized cause it hasn't been moved in 9 yrs or is there some secret..
Im sure im going to regret looking this stupid, but the response from SWMBO will be far worse than anything on here if I break it..
Cheers Ean
thanks guys that info was a huge help but i still have standard intercooler and hoses, ECU, and my exhaust is standard but has the centre muffler removed and a straight through hotdog on the tailpipe to quiten it down a bit, but i am also of the understanding that you cant re-map a 2001 model ECU which happens to be what i have is that true?
these modern diesels are expensive to do up hey!!!!!!!
almost wish for mechanical injection again...... almost but not quite LOL![]()
