I reckon the rubber has been pushed up inside the rubber tubing.
I would try getting a wire coathanger or something and try feeling up inside the rubber tubing from under the car.I had the same problem on my drivers side..

For a fair while I have had trouble with a wet carpet on drivers side near heater matrix. In trying to track the cause, I went underneath to check the a/c drain tubes and noticed there were none. There is just the rubber grommet in the floor arch on either side of the double cardan. As there is no tube to block up, is it possible that the moisture is coming from under the truck, through the grommet and into the vehicle.
When the a/c is running, water seems to dribble out of the passenger side grommet but very little out of the drivers side.
I do a bit of river crossing so I guess there is nothing to stop the water entering from underneath - would having the tubes installed prevent this?
Where can I source new tubes? How would new tubes prevent the water running up into the interior anyway?
I wonder if the guy that installed my cdl left them off when re-installing the transfer case.
Any pics of what they are supposed to look like?
Cheers,
biggin.

The D2 doesn't have a tube, just a rubber duckbill grommet on each side. This only protrudes a short distance. If it has been pushed in it would definitely be blocked.

That rubber duckbilled grommet is all mine had. As far as i know thats all they had from the factory. Any drain tube has to be made by urself.
I just used a bit of plastic tube that fitted in the valve and cable tied it there and then cable tied the other end to the chassis.
It know it work because every where i park i get two puddles under the car.

Some people actually remove the duckbill as this clogs up with debris from the road & clogs the drain & you end up with water on the carpet.
So yours may have been removed (by previuos owner?)
Hmmm, thanks all.
It would seem that the duckbill valve is missing from the drivers side grommet which would definately allow water to travel back up into the a/c unit, especially when crossing creeks. I'll keep an eye out for a suitable piece of tube to shove up it.
I don't suppose a new grommet is easily obtainable.
Anyone have a part number?

biggin
Looks like the drain tube comes as an assy'. (so should also include the duckbill)
