Been looking at getting for a while, makes roof rack access so easy, had one on a D1 a while back.
Do door mounted ladders cause any problems with the rear door?

It was easy to fit, looks good and funnily enough works well as a ladder!
Anyone else got any comment regarding D2 ladders? I'm a bit worried that my weight, combine with whatever I'm hoisting on the racks may stress / warp the door frame / hinges. I'm about 90Kg, plus full esky.. that Kinda thing.

The rhino folds away, but still looks like it would be big, the weight looks like it is applied to the tyre / ground. I guess it could be clamped to the side of the rack somehow. I hate the idea of drilling into my baby to mount the others.
The trouble with the folding ladder is that once you've folded it you have to put it somewhere, either in the back of the disco (taking up valuable room) or in a space on the rack itself, which means you'd have to climb up and get it. Possible to mount it off the side of the rack when folded, hanging horizontally, but a bit dubious about that idea. Im also dubious about the amount of flex in it, could it flex in and ding the body or window under load? I cant see much point to it other than it allows side access, which is useful, and can use it both sides which is also useful.
The first option looks OK to my mind, pretty much the same as the second except the second has a bottom bar presumably to distribute weight. But the weight is taken off the top of the door anyway. Its also significantly cheaper when exchange rates and freight are taken into account.
I recently fitted one to my D2 and it really is more useful than I imagined it would be. Not sure how I managed without it. Especially when trialling, we leave the strops looped around it ready for action, and if they're muddy they stay there until after the jet wash![]()
I have had one of my D1 for years and years and I have ranged between 95 -100kg and it never even looked like bending or causing door problems. Its the genuine LR product and unlike their brush bars its actually a good bit of kit. I just took it off and stuck it on the D2 but it required lengthening cause the D2 door handle is bigger and goes lower than the D1. I love it. Its also handy to climb up on just to get a good look at what is around.
