In order of importance
1.Service history
2. milage
Hi all. I have been looking around on the forums for a bit and am now a member! You have a very good community on here with a wealth of knowledge.
I have decided on a Discovery 2 for my first 4wd. Will be my daily drive and used as a 4wd on weekends - just basic stuff. I have had a look at and a drive of a couple so far and there are 2 that stand out.
03' MY03 TD5 Auto 150000kms Platinum Edition. Dealer $25000 drive away. Coils all round. sunroof, upgraded stereo. (looks tough in black with Headlight Grills)
04' MY03 TD5 Auto 115000kms Classic, 7 seater. Private $22000. leather, bullbar, snorkel.
Both have one owner, log books, near new tyres and seem to be in excellent condition.
Neither has ACE and Dealer car only has 3 months warranty.
Advice Please!!!

2003 D2a Auto TD5 good Landy gone
2015 D4 probably the most amazing yet, why get a RR?
Hi Mat,
Provided the $22K model has full LR service hstory (ask for the service reports that LR provide with each service, not just stamps in logbook) then this is the better buy with lower Ks, 7 seat & leather as well. Read thru the service reports to see if all recalls, injector harness etc have been done. if you don't buy it send me details as I might! Good luck & enjoy.
Cheers..B

If you go with the 115000km one, the next service is a big one at 120000. Just be prepared for it.
I agree with the other comments.
Waz
Drive both of them.
Two cars can vary tremendously in the way they handle.
Have any been chipped?
Leather is a big bonus IMHO, its easy to clean, looks great and was exspensive option.
Ace would be nice though, 7 seater is also good if you can get one as they fetch more re-sale.
Alot of maintenance items can appear between 100,000kms and 150,000kms so my advice would be to find out which of the following items have already been done on each vehicle:
fuel pump regulator
rear suspension air bags (only applies to the '04 model you're looking at)
Injector harness (not a big issue but worth checking)
oil pump bolt
3 amigo's issues
ask about water leaking into cabin (look for damp carpet)
fuel lines around tank area (they rub through and leak)
It could well be that the above items have been addressed on the higher milage vehicle and not the lower milage vehicle.
It would be worth attempting to contact the previous owner of the dealer vehicle to try and verify the service history. Completed log books are good but copies of service receipts are better.
7 seats is good at resale time. Black is bad at resale time.
Best of luck.
Thanks for all the advice guys. The 04' model is the way i'm leaning.
Am going to have it inspected.
Would an RACQ inspection do or should i take it to a LR specialist?
Who is good in or around Brisbane?
I have a TD5 03 platinum, love the 11 speaker sound, mine also has SLS and 7 seats. I'd be thinking about the 04 lower km lower price newer model, leather etc. You can always upgrade the stereo.
Take it to M.R. Auto at Redcliffe.
