Yep, well known if you give the system a good flush, the little mexican dancers can be kept in the cupboard.........Does not always work, but well worth doing before condeming anything else.
since powerbleeding and replacing all the brake fluid not ONE SINGLE 3 Amigo episode,, (over two months)
since replacing the REAR brake pads,, no more squealing.
I think there's a little something in there for all of us,,,![]()

I'll second that Pedro. Did a full power flush font & rear & modulator. Pushed about 2L of fluid through the whole system. Changed front & rear disc pads. Didn't skim the disc's ... they only had a couple of very minor ridges and a small lip on the edge.
Brakes squeeled occaisionaly for a couple of weeks while the pads adopted the surface shape of the disc, and have only had 1x 3 Amigo's since done (about 8-9 weeks ago).
We were getting numerous Amigo's per week. I know I've possibly got a dodgy front LHS wheel speed sensor cable. The 1 time we got it since the flush was at almost standstill under very light brakes ... still squeels very lightly under light pedal/almost stopped situations.
Kev..
yea Kev,, mine squealed only when nearly stopped,,
Thought I'd bought a dud set of front pads
not looking forward to another year of brake squealing
and then the backs came due and BINGO![]()

What sort of pads did you use ?
I got a set of the Transgold (Kevlar/Semi-Metallic) from Britsh 4WD in Tassie and I'm very happy with them. Stops well, doesn't fade unless you really give the anchors a royal hammering, and so far the brake dust on the front wheels is really minimal ... $55/set front and rears the same.
Kev..
They are Mintex on the fronts,, stop fine, lots of black stuff
backs are these,,
now all I need to do is paint the calipers,,,

... but where did you get the cap !!
I gotta get me one of those !
Kev..
I replaced the rear pads on my D2 with OEM pads.
Did not sqeal at first but after 20000Km's it started.
Just gefore standstill the sqealing starts.
Recon replacing them with something elso would do.
My D2 did the LaBamba the day i picked it up. Didnt do it on the test drive did it...
Went off on the next startup and then came back a few days later.
Last time they flashed came up, I ended up washing it and hosed out all around the brakes, lots of brake dust everywhere poring out, since then, never had it back!
A few weeks ago, done new rotors and Bendix 4WD pads. That breakin stuff they put on them is fantastic on new rotors! Took it for a blast around the streets giving it hard braking to cut em in, pulled up in the driveway with smoke billowing out as the remnant oil that didnt come off the rotors after a Robowash and the new pads setting in heated up and burnt off!!
Got loads of pedal feel back and pulls up almost and good as the Rangie!!
Kinda felt all V8 Supercar-ish!!
Cheers
Andrew
Hi Guys, Whats involved in a power bleed? I'm guessing a nanocom but I have the V8 so I'm holding out for March where I'm told a V8 model would be available. Other then that is it just your average run of the mill manual bleed or will i need a power bleeder? If so where can i source one?
Cheers Ted.
