    D2 16" wheels interesting phenomenon

Im sure that many of you on here have had the problem of trying to find D2 16" alloys, in my brief experience its been either good luck or some ridiculous price tag attached.
However i have been told that the D2 stud pattern is the sam as the commodore one, giving you a much wider choice of wheels and at cheaper prices, the only problem is you cant fit the rover nuts and have to order nuts when you buy the wheels(not much of a problem).
to test this theory i tried a set of vl walkinshaw replicas that were sitting around and low and behold they fit.
Just thought id share the information.

    proof in the pic.

thats true i have looked into this and beaware of wheel rating and weight rating especial if you gonna use them off road ,beema wheels fit to but std D2 wheels have + 57 offset which means you will be going to more than +60 very unafective

your best option is the P38

    cheers kelvin

    P38 also.

BTW, the VE changed to a M14 thread on the studs which should match the D2, and likewise they have a 5x120mm PCD. The earlier rims such as the VL have smaller studs so probably wont suit. Also, the D2 hub locates the wheel off the centralising spigott rather than the studs like other hubs - I don't know how much of an issue that may be or if the D2 studs and mountings are suitable to locate the wheel.

    Offset differences? I dunno.
    Cheers

As long as the non D2 rim has a bigger central hole all thats needed in the appropriate size "centralising ring"
You can use D3/RRS wheels on the D2 if you get the rings to suit.
Search Ebay, they are used on LOTS of mag wheels.

I have two sets of genuine 16" steel wheels in my shed and one set on my truck. Sorry, guess I'm just greedy

Actually I do need to shift them as they are taking up space but I suspect shipping to Aus would make them fall into the "ridiculous price" category
