D2 Thor V8 engine diagnostic tool.

Can anyone suggest a diagnostic tool just for the D2 v8 engine.
I read somewhere the thor engine is OBD2 compliant?
Anyone had success with obd2 analyser?

Want to read (EOBD) fault codes get a generic scanner / code reader.

Want full access & editing capability on all of the control modules within the D2 then get a Hawkeye or Faultmate (specific diagnostic systems for LR vehicles, affordable by end users).

Scanegauge II quite possibly? I use one in my D2 V8 and it's very informative in letting you know whats going on. Also allow you to clear ECU faults.

    Cheers

Yes, but how about programming key fobs, changing alarm settings, calibrating riding height or interrogating the ACE ECU? To name just a few...

Need LR specific diagnostic gear for that, else will end up in the dealership.

Yep, get a Faultmate. Will pay for itself in short order.

Last year in local Jag/LR dealer most disgruntled Jag owner was holding forth about a bill for several hundred dollars ... the tech had plugged a wireless handset into the diag. port and cleared a coule of small faults: "known" file corruption problem, no adjustments or parts needed. Total time less than 10 mins... I guess because they CAN

With that sort of gouging prevalent the simplest Faultmate with a $250 (10") netbook makes an excellent investment, esp with the A$ sitting where it is at present.

PS: I've had a simple FMate for 4 yrs. (P38 4.6 Thor) Have used it to reset fuel adaptive settings, measure "rough running" , long/short term air/fuel parameters, reset a rare EMS -BECM number mismatch (2 min job and saved $1200 because local indi swore it was a dud fuel pump...!!!)
