I understand that its not compatible you need an NNN500020
Hiya,
I have a 1999 110 TD5 with the non flashable ECU. Can anyone tell me if the 1999 Disco S2 auto ECU is compatible as a swap in. Is there a difference between the Auto ECU and the manual ECU?
What do I need to do, programming wise, to make it work with my truck? I assume there would be security codes and other data that needs to be transferred to the new ECU so it all talks to each other.
cheers Mark

Thanks Djam 1,
the non-flashable is a MSB prefix, the later flashable ECU's are the NNN prefix. I was of the impression that the defender and disco both had the MSB ECU until it was replaced with the NNN ECU in 2002 ish. Am I mistaken, which would make the Defender and Disco not compatible as a straight swap.
cheers Mark
i have a non flashable sat in the shed (spare) after recently fitting a flashed nnn.
the auto one might work but would suspect will need to switch off the auto inputs (nanocom) for it to work in a fridge.someone more savy will be along soon to confirm.
they are not compatible 'straight out of the box'.

Jon
Jon is spot on.
The disco unit will make your gauges run backwards too....
Try and get hold of a NNN ecu (flashable) with a xxxx20 number

That must be it then.
Nope that wasn't it!Originally Posted by OffTrack
If manual into Auto correct. Auto ECU into manual is fine.
Yes variant file must be correct for vehicle type otherwise 'gauges work backwards'
The other benefit to the Defender owner fitting a NNN ecu is the ability to wire its cruise control up to work.

Interesting. There are no defender maps for the auto ECU's. So you are advocating running a disco map in a defender? How does that work?
