    OBD Bluetooth help

    Hi All .

We just got a Galaxy S2 phone and I am keen to hook up a blue tooth OBD2 connection to read the ECU on a mates P38a 1999 and also our Holden Zafira I was looking at one on ebay and it stated that it doesn't work on pre 2004 rovers and landrover.

Any suggestions or recommendations on which one to get?

Also hoping to connect this to the Iphone as well.

    Cheers

If you access to a PC grab a copy of "EOBD Facile" from this site:
    Download - Outils OBD Facile

Look up the Hex numbers for the OBD modes for the P38a on this page:
List of OBD2 compatible vehicles - Outils OBD Facile

Start up EOBD Facile and in the File menu go to "PID Decoder"
Enter the hex number(s) from the Mode 1 column into line one (if there is more than one number for a mode enter on the following lines), select Mode 1 in the pull down menu and click decode.

The program will list all the OBD PID's available in the mode.

Repeat the process for mode 2.

I can't see how to cut and paste from the program, hence the DIY instructions.

Basically the Td5 has bugger all coverage (but I guess you know that already), the P38a has significantly more PID's being a V8 sold into the US, and the Holden isn't listed but should have a significant amount of information.

    cheers

Any ELM327 bluetooth OBD2 module should work with Torque and an S2.

You'll only get the generic codes and monitoring, none of the manufacturer specific stuff.
