G'day Lindsay.
I havn't come across this particular issue before. I assume you have cycled the nano power on and off?
If you can, check the codes are correct. I've just got mine working properly after the gumby mistake of 'O not 0'.
Prob not much help, but you're not alone :-)
Dave.

I'm not exactly sure what difference buying over the net really makes.
The Nanocom was working up to the point that you tried entering the codes, so it's likely to be an issue of wrong code or some such.
Try hooking up the Evo to a PC with the USB cable, and see if you get the four boxes on the screen (Kernel, Graphics, Firmware, Nanocom Diagnostics).
If you do, go to :: Nanocom :: , log in to the restricted area, and download firmware update 1.09.
Boot up with the nanocom plugged into USB, and click the Kernel button. Start up the updater on the PC. After clicking that you have read the documentation, click the "overwrite existing configuration" button, then install the update.
The "overwrite" wipes out any stored registration codes, so you can then follow the procedure in the video.
cheers
Paul

FWIW the point oldyella's Nanocom is getting stuck is just before the configuration information is loaded.
The option highlighted in the red box needs to be selected when you install the firmware upgrade to ensure the current configuration is overwritten .

BTW the 1.11 firmware update was released overnight.

We have actually had many scores of owners writing in and being totally convinced that the unlock codes published for the Nanocom are wrong and so result in a "Function Locked" error message.
However these codes are electronically generated and to date have never ever been incorrect. Not even just once.
For some unknown reason, the format of the codes can fool the brain, and in some cases the font might fool owners into mis reading what some charactors of their codes really are.
If you are not sure, copy and paste your code into microsofts word ect, re size the font if you wish and then underneath the code, type in what you think it is for comparison.
Sometimes folks also forget to save the codes they enter or leave an invisible space at the end, so be sure about this too.

Thanks Colin I have another person to look at the device tomorrow. The unit won't proceed past the 4 icons with the USB symbol. I may well have put in the wrong codes but now can't get back in to rectify them. I may well have placed them in the incorrect positions, I don't know so are going to upload the latest update toworrow and see what happens then. Where I got confused was that in the setup download you refer to them as unlock codes and then later emailed to me are licence 2 and 4 and there was no reference to these being the same thing not even the fact that 2 went in position 2 and 4 into 4 or so I now presume. It will not boot up when plugged into the OBD plug. Will post tomorrow the results.

Hiya Linsay
It sounds like you have somehow managed to corrupt one of the units configuration files, However, don't worry, we have gone to great lengths to provide a raft of features that ultimately make any Nanocom Evolution unit self recoverable under pretty much all circumstances, including corrupted configuration files
The 4 Icon screen you are seeing is one of those and allows you to put the unit into upgrade mode even when it is not booting.
The option in the Upgrade process that Offtrack is showing you is another, and this allows for all Configuration files to be replaced with new ones in the event they get corrupted.
So although we have not seen or heard of this happening before, we have got it covered.
Note that when the unit is upgraded with the configuration files being replaced, the license/unlock/activation codes in your unit will now be all random characters rather than the neat Question marks your unit had in it when you first got it. This is because we actually manually enter all the question marks in units as part of their pre shipping testing process.
This might seem a bit of an extensive and excessive thing to do on each and every unit, and while it does take quite some time, it is important that we check each individual units touch screen calibration and it's ability to correctly store exactly what is entered.
In respect of code entry, everything you could possible wish to know is provided in the FAQ on the Nanocom.it site, including demonstration videos
:: FAQ - Nanocom ::
I am sure you are going to get on just fine and try not to think of this as a problem, more as an opportunity to learn and become more capable and confident with this equipment.
Just like the many other commendable members of this forum, i am here to help if required. So the web is not such a bad thing, and who knows, by next month, it might well be you offering a little help and advice to someone else who just got started
Warmest Regards
Colin
