Nanocom: A tip for cheapskate buyers

    Hi guys,

Just thought I'd share a tip if you are looking at buying a Nanocom from blackbox solutions.

Don't assume that you need to order in Aus Dollars. You can order in any currency they list, and by comparing rates you can save yourself a few dollars.

As an example on todays rates an EVO with D2 Td5 codes is listed at the following prices (ex-VAT):

    AUD = $402.75
    EUR = €299.00 ($372.68 AUD)

Ordering using the euro pricing has been pretty favourable for at least the last 6 months, so it's worth checking out conversion from EUR to AUD before placing an order. Even with the exchange rate conversions and fees piled on by the credit card companies you can still save yourself around $20-25.

    cheers
    Paul

I did exactly that last night. I checked out via AUD then did the euro conversion.... 2 different prices?? At around 400 clams, its a good buy these days.

    Thanks for the tip.

I hope you remembered to ask for the 10% AULRO member discount I think it is still available to members of at least 6 months and 100+ posts. The posts apparently have to be contributions, not just 100 "+1"'s and "me too"'s. If not ping a PM or email to Colin and see if you can get it applied.

If I was being generous I'd say that they are using an automatic currency conversion system which is referring to a very unfriendly rate. It seems like they may just be a static conversion rate that hasn't been updated in a long, long time. If you convert any of the other currencies listed to AUD they come out at roughly $410-416. So basically you just order in Euros.

I agree, a diagnostic tool of the Nanocom's capabilities is unbeatable for around $400 delivered, considering the local Hawkeye distributors were quoting $550 plus delivery at the start of the year.

I have read this a day late. I ordered mine last night and paid in Au dollars. The 10% discount is still available and below are the rules.

We would expect that you must have been an active and contributory member of the forum for at
least six months and made a minimum of fifty regular posts. (This is in order to stop people signing up
to the forum just to get the discount).
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Thanks for the tip guys. I'm still new around here so I'll have to wait a little longer to be eligible for the discount. If I need it ASAP then I'll just buy it without the members discount.
Touch wood the TD5's going great for now but I still wouldn't mind getting familiar with all the sensors parameters, values, etc...

    Good on you Dave

We used to use a fully automated currency conversion script in outr web shop, but it never worked well and the additional administration work involved in dealing with a constantly changing currency conversion rate was getting silly.
So now we do use a fixed rate system we do periodically update based on historical averages. However often we can be a bit behind, and do leave in a margin to cover our own conversion fees. And so at certain times of the year you may get an advantage if you buy something in Euros and have your own bank do the conversion from your own currency.

    Regards Discounting.
We do offer a discount scheme.
and here is a link to the document detailing it

    http://www.blackbox-solutions.com/do...ions/aulro.pdf

As it states, we do have to apply some eligability criterea to keep our distributors happy etc.

If you do not fully meet these, then please PM me as i am sure to be able to work something out.

Colin thanks so much for that
I am about to order a nanocom for my 96 p38 v8. However, A mod i'm about to embark upon is to graft the D series wabco system in so I get 4 wheel tc. Is it possible to get a gems nanocom that has C and D series ABS diagnostics?

    Regards,
    Benji.

    Hiya Benji

Yea DII owners are pretty quickly figuring out that now we have stepped in to sort things out, the Evolution is pretty much not only the most desirable and capable, but also most cost effective kit there is on the Market.

But althought it costs just a little more, due to having more systems that are also more complex, P38 Owners are only just waking up to what an amazing degree of coverage and capability this equipment offers for so little cost. Yoiu will certainly not be dissapointed

The Menuing options are set according to origional fitment for simplicity and ease of use.
However the licence / unlock code for all other P38 systems, other than engine management does mean just that.

So for your hybrid conversion to a Type D ABS over the Type C, you will need to access that via the Motronic menu, but the Type D ABS will still be accessible without your needing to purchase any additional licences / unlock codes.
