Have you entered the codes in the correct "slots"? From memory the codes are numbered and you need to enter them into corresponding field on the codes screen.
Hi all, first time poster, so be gentle.
I hope I'm posting in the right area, if not I'm sure you'll let me know.
I'm having a problem with my Nanocom Evo that I bought a couple of weeks ago. I bought the Nanocom for the TD5 Disco and every thing loads up fine, but certain areas of the menus are coming up with "Function Locked".
I can't seem to get into the TD5 Engine menu, TD5 Map menu and the Instruments menu but every thing else, related to the TD5, I can access.
I've checked and rechecked the Unlocking Codes about half a dozen times and although I had one of the codes wrong to start with, I fixed that code and re-saved it but still no good. I've emailed Nanocom, but they just said I've probably got the Unlock Codes wrong, but as I said I've checked these codes, and the seem correct.
I'm wondering if anybody else has had this problem? I thought maybe I hadn't bought the right version or I needed to purchase other codes from Nanocom, but they said nothing about this in there email.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Adam

Hi Adam
Have you registered on the Blackbox Solutions forum yet? There are a heap of useful threads starting to appear on that forum, however, you will need to register. As a Nanocom owner you are entitled to membership of this forum. IIRC you need to go to the main BBS site and there's a link somewhere alog the top titled "Forum". BS get back to you pretty promptly with your login details.
I saw a post that was made recently that referenced the updated firmware that your unit may NOT have shipped with.
Here's the check you can do to verify that your unit is fully up to date.
If you go into the following menu items :
Nanocom - Setup - Info
You should have the following showing:
Kernal Firmware Rev 1.08
Main Firmware rev 2.2
Graphic Controller Firmware Rev 1.4n
OBD Firmware Rev 1.04
Global Upgrade Level 20120605 (this is the one that shows the latest upgrade level)
As it happens my Evo is also doing what you are reporting. I am 100% positive that the unlock codes I've entered are correct AND in their correct fields. I have access to instrument mode whereby I see the live engine data but if I exit out of that screen and navigate to any other sections (eg, Valeo BCU to change a door unlocking setting) I get the "Function locked" error.
I'm going to reinstall the updated firmware and start over.
Report back any progress you've made and feel free to ask any more Q's too - there's a fair body of knowledge on the aulro forums about the Nanocom now and we're happy to share.
Hi Offtrack,
I think I have them in the right slots, I've got two license numbers, license 1 and license 3, which I've put into the corresponding boxes, but I doesn't seem to make a difference.
Hi bell1975,
I've registered on the Blackbox Solutions forum but i haven't had a chance to have a really good look at it. I'll go back to the forum and have a proper look.
I checked my firmware info, as you suggested, and it matches exactly what you've written down. I might go back and reinstall the firmware too. Did you have to re-enter the unlocking codes after you updated your firmware, as I've read on here that some people have had to do this? I didn't have to on mine so maybe I missed something.
Thanks for you for the help, I've only owned my Disco for a couple of months and this forum has been invaluable.
You would only need to re-enter code is you had checked the option to over-write current settings when you ran the updates. It's more a case of those who have to reenter codes having missed something (like looking at which options are selected).
In this case it may be worth over writing the existing settings so you know you have a clean slate.
Adam, you might want to check if you have figure 0 instead of letter O (or vice versa).
This gumby made that mistake and shelved the box for a few months in disgust until bbs suggested I check! Palm, meet face, slap!
Hope this helps.
Dave.
Hi Offtrack,
I went through and firmware update again and ticked the "over-write current settings", then went through and deleted all the codes entered and reentered my codes, but it still hasn't fixed the issue.
I'm going to email BBS again and see if they have any more ideas.
Hi Dave,
The only O i have in my unlock codes is in lower case. I went through the process of coping the codes from the Nanocom website and pasting them into word, then re-typing the codes to see if they match, and they did.
I'm pretty close to doing what you did, this is really giving me the sh1ts.
Hiya Adamjv.
Sorry to hear of your code entry troubles and a big thanks to everyone for their input and help
No panic, i will help you get this sussed in no time
These codes look and seem simple enough and for sure hundred if not thousands of codes have been sucessfully entered. However they can be a bit deceptive and have a knack of fooling even the cleverest of chaps, even me once
We have dealt with countless cases of folks getting it wrong for various reasons, all simple enough and have made a policy of concentrating absolutely all advice, information and help we can possibly offer in the Nanocom ID and UNLOCK CODES and the Function Locked error. FAQ
:: FAQ - Nanocom ::
This explains the common problem of folks mis reading the code and explains how to use something like word to suss that out, that the codes need to go in the respective boxes, eg code 4 goes in box 4. not to leave a space at the end, that you have to remember to go to the last page and save them, then re cycle the power to the unit before checking, and that the codes supplied are 10000000% correct as they are computer generated.
One particular trick that the mind plays when attempting a re entry is that often folks will re enter the same wrong code, as this is what they read on the screen. Re entering and saving question marks, thus making folks enter what is written instead of what was previously entered can possibly prevent this effect.
If you are still struggling, e-mail a picture of the Evos screen showing what you have entered and perhaps even the word doc you have made to validate your code to support@blackbox-solutions.com.
I promise we will try our best to be sympathetic when we spot what you are doing wrong
Yes, some folks do actually type what they think their codes are into word to validate them rather than use copy and paste![]()
