    Autologic vs T4

    Hi.

I´m not sure have you got any bad experience of using Autologic or similar pirate tester for your land rover´s? Vs geneuine tester like T4.

My mate has got very good reputation Land Rover Shop, I have been know him over 15years.. In my mind he is 100% honest for me. He usually resolve all my proplems what we have our car´s (He lives away from us approx 450km) So i call him every time when my own skills dont suffice.
We spoke one evening with MSN messenger.
His friend has got also good reputation Land Rover Shop, ex main dealer for Land rovers, Jaguars, rovers, etc. Now only a garage/part store..

So my friend told me that their competitor (bad reputation) use only a Rovacom/autologic pirate tester. And he will start to program some New Range rover. And last what he did, he broke BCM unit. This car then tow:ned to other good reputation garage, and they try to go inside to BCM wit original T4 tester or similar, no signal anymore. So they diagnose it, that autologic will make some fault/lock inside the BCM. And car wont start anymore and they cant even read fault codes anymore. So they have to replace BCM, ECU, couple of more parts to get inside the car electric. And then it will fire again. Cost +thousand euro´s

And same (bad reputation) garage make also couple similar failure on the other place (they have got 3 garages around Finland) And all car´s towned to other good reputation garage to get their run again..

    This can´t be a coincidence?

I have got personal Land Rover T4 tester. 1 Discovery 2 TD5 has got crank sensor proplem, they try to resolve it to 2 pirate tester, fault codes, are transmission failure, fuel pump failure, Engine temp sensor failure, but it wont give ever crank sensor failure. They won´t reset those codes. Then this guy call me and ask if i can help him. I say of course. Then he drive for my home, i read faults, and only fault what T4 found is bad crank sensor. Then i order a spacer between sensor and turbine housing/block. And this car run´s fine since..

I´m not sure have you got similar experiences? Our diagnose is that those pirate tester´s is only a good if you can handle them correctly, and they will make some canceled chainges for your BCM if you don´t know what you are doing for. But T4 or similar won´t let you do that.. Because it is user friendly and only designed for land rovers.

Those stories are thrut i spoke 1 of those car´s owners. And car owners buy all those parts etc.. (bad reputation garage won´t take responsibility)
And this bad reputation garage owner is c.o.c.k. He will shout his customers and ewen tell off his customers straight of their faces..

Yes i know my English is rusty, but i´m Finnish..

It is quite understandable that almost all members here would not even know where to even start in replying to your post.

Fortunately for you, i have full bottle of the local plonk here, which is very nice, and i am willing to spend some time replying to your post and hopefully educating you.

I also humbly state that i happen to be entirely versed in all aspects replying to your post requires and i believe i am uniquely qualified to do so.

Back in 1996, the only diagnostic system for any and all Land Rovers of that time was the Testbook One It was a truly awful POS that cost megabucks for those LR only dealers allowed the possibility to own one.

Indies had absolutely nothing to allow them to compete, which made all LR owners captive cash cows, so I (now BBS) produced the first ever alternate to the LR diagnostic system in the form of a Tablet shaped unit with a 12 inch colour touch screen and handles on each end.

Not only were the physical elements of this vastly more advanced, but so was the capability. It was a cornerstone many indies will recall as being their savior. It was not cheap and most indies used it all day every day on just about anything and everything, for any and all tasks. Therefore any problem it may have had was very quickly discovered and debugged to absolute perfection.
We learned much that made us pretty much the ultimate experts in this aspect.

From that day to this, despite our turning to provide lower cost equipment that more aids DIY owners and enthusiasts, our equipment has always been regarded as the best there is, and has always been simply light years ahead of the official LR equipment dealers have in countless ways.

We are not pirates, seeking to make owners captive, but more pioneers, providing equipment that frees owners and gives them new opportunities.

I cannot speak for the exact circumstances your friend of a friend reports, But i truly believe that the equipment used is not the issue.

If i were tasked to deal with any vehicular problem and could only use BBS equipment or OEM equipment, i would take our equipment every time.
