Well it doesn't happen very often but looks like no one knows the answer. I think I will just get a new one in that case
First I'd like to state that I am a complete novice when it comes to nanocom diagnostics and know very little about it.
But since I have now bought another older D2 I would like something which may get me out of trouble when remote touring and will allow me to make simple changes to settings on the vehicle.
So I have been offered an older model Nanocom and was hoping someone could tell me if there are any major differences between it and the new evo.
Well it doesn't happen very often but looks like no one knows the answer. I think I will just get a new one in that case
I get the impression that there were a few problems with the old one where functions were not working properly, and people were in some cases too scared to use it in case they made a change, that would affect something else in the system and then it couldn't be changed back. BBS were aware of this and have put in a lot of development after they bought the Nanocom system to make it work properly and reliably. I think purchasing the Evo is a good move.
Cheers

Get an EVO, you won't look back.
offtrack, offtrack, forum calling offtrack.
i think the evo version lets you see alot of the readings/etc on the inbuilt screen as oppose to the early one you need to connect to a laptop to get the most out off. the early one i have cleared the error codes easy enough, have not connected to the laptop yet.![]()
Geez, I go away for a few days....
If you have a old Nanocom One track down someone who can update it to v2.08. That gives you essentially the same module support as the EVO on the D2. BBS seem to have stopped supporting at that point but it works well.
As Yorkie says you need to hook up the One to a computer to view real time data for most modules. It does have an Instrument mode and temp alarm facility but from memory you might need to wire in a buzzer for the temp alarm.
You can record engine data to file using the internal memory of the One but you'll need to hook up to the computer to retrieve the files.
You can view realtime data via the computer for all modules.
When I had my One I did some autobox testing for example.

At the moment I can't record ACE or AUTO on the Evo (latest firmware) due to the file save dialog crashing when I try to give the recording a name, so I reckon I'd have been better off keeping the One. At least that was usable. I've reported this to BBS but Ronnie didn't seem particularly interested - too busy working on the D3/D4/RRS support to iron out bugs on gear they have already sold?!?
If you are considering doing remapping the One has a proven track record, while the Evo is still a bit questionable. The latest Evo changes have narrowed the gap but I've had PM's from a couple of people who have bricked ECU's after installing the update so it's by no means a golden bullet.
I'd actually seriously look at the Hawkeye if you don't need the map uploads, file recording or instrument mode.

Thank you slunnieBBS were aware of this and have put in a lot of development after they bought the Nanocom system to make it work properly and reliably.
Despite the latest slur against BBS that we are too busy working on new developments to care about anyone with older equipment.
The fact remains that despite our never ever having sold a single Nanocom one, we freely invested quite a huge amount of effort and resources we really did not have to, into it providing top to toe debugging of it, which included adding proper handling of all BCU versions that had previously meant odd things changing with no way back. In fact it was a massive effort just to provide any means of upgrading the Nanocom one at all, but we did it.
2.08 is by no means the end of our support for Nanocom one, as has been suggested. It is just the last version we developed and that seems to have sorted all the many problems out. If one day, some new problem comes to light that needs sorting, we will happily do that and introduce 2.09, which of course will also not cost all those that did not even buy their systems from BBS a single cent.
Frankly i am quite disappointed in some of the recent anti BBS comments being made on this board.
When i first took on the Nanocom, many questioned my motives and reason as being suspect. Since then i have freely poured vast amounts of time money and resources into the Nanocom. I have freely debugged the utter bejesus out of it, made these upgrades available to existing owners, Freely added additional vehicle systems coverage, added coverage of V8 engine management and have totally reworked the hardware to something far more desirable, but which is still supplied at exactly the same cost as it's predecessor.
I offer discounts to all established members of this board and make myself available to answer any questions and be publicly accountable as the owner of BBS to anyone who has any gripe or issue.
My thanks for all this currently seeming to be
I'd actually seriously look at the Hawkeye
I will listen to everything said on a forum but don't necessarily believe everything that's said.
Don't worry BBS, I have only heard good things about the product and will be buying a new evo before June.
