    Nanocom Evo Documentation

I was scrolling through BBS to update my manuals/files and came across

    Title:
    TD5 Map Wizard
    Description:
Utility to create TD5 Maps for all Nanocom units. Extract from zip file to use
    Download:
    NANOCOM Map Wizard.rar

in the downloads. It has an exe file and I then stopped and said to myself - ask the experts.
Is it anything I as an electronics dinosaur should be concerned about and/or need? I do have a TD5inside remap and a copy of my original, so can't see it being of any specific use to me or others like me??
D4 MY16 TDV6 - Cambo towing magic, Traxide Batteries, X Lifter, GAP ID Tool, Snorkel, Mitch Hitch, Clearview Mirrors, F&R Dashcams, CB
RRC MY95 LSE Vogue Softdash "Bessie" with MY99 TD5 and 4HP24 transplants
SADLY SOLD MY04 D2a TD5 auto and MY10 D4 2.7 both with lots of goodies

    No & no

If it does what I think, then it is for those who want to write their own custom maps. Something Offtrack would be comfortable using I suspect, but for us mere mortals stay well away.

    Cheers

What the map wizard does is generate factory variant/fuel maps in a format suitable for use with the Nanocom.

Where this comes in use is if you are swapping or replacing ECU's and need the correct map. The NNN ECU's can support a range of fuel and variant maps depending on what vehicle it is being installed in.

As example the NNN500030 ECU - which is suitable for Td5 Auto - has six factory variant/fuel maps available. 3 of these maps are for EU2 engine and 3 are for the EU3 (2002MY onwards). For each of the engine types there are maps for Europe, Korea, and ROW markets.

The idea is that you generate the correct map for your vehicle configuration and market, and Australia vehicles are typically delivered with European maps due to close similarity of the specifications. This ensures that your engine is running as intended by LR with all sensors correctly configured.

If you remap your vehicle, the tuning company will usually modify the standard//correct map for your engine in standard trim.

If you load an incorrect variant/fuel map combination you will invariably see what are euphemistically called "ghost faults". These are actual faults that arise because the map doesn't match the ECU and some sensor inputs and outputs don't function as intended.

If you want to modify the fuel maps you'll need a program called Td5 Map Editor. I don't think there is much point fiddling with Td5 Map Editor as is. It requires a degree of knowledge and equipment I don't currently possess to make meaningful use of the software. I'd make the observation that professional tuning companies like Td5Inside are modifying maps that aren't even identified as having a specific function in Td5 Map Editor.

    cheers

    Excellent post, as always offtrack.

And you are very right regarding map editor. Credits should be given to the man who worked on the software, but it is far to basic to fullfill all the potential of the td5 engine.
