three faulty abs sensors at once

Hi all, just bought a 99 dII with a td5 and auto.Bought it as a fixer upper and have rebuilt the motor, the three amigos have now moved in, have bought an abs amigo and waiting for that to arrive.I have jacked up each wheel and the front left is the only one that gives a speedo reading, the annoying thing is that the lights were off and tc and abs and hdc were all working one week ago, it happened when I drove over some rough stuff in a paddock (not excessively though) and the lights came on and haven't gone off since,

Any idea what would cause three abs sensors to die at the same time? maybe bad earth or a wire off somewhere?

    cheers james

They may have too much air gap not sure how it works on a D2 but with a Defender you just knock them in with the heal of your hand and a screwdriver.

Have a close look at your rotors.I was getting all sorts of 3 amigo issues, new rotors/pads and all is good, they have been banished.
If the rotors are worn out ie have decent scouring, lipson the outer edges, I bet its the issue
I was even getting the Traction Control coming on under minimal power.

I would also check the plugs, seperate and refit, check the line for damage also. The depth of the sensor in relation to the rings are set by the manufacture process, but it may be worth popping them out and checking nothing is in the tone rings like mud or in my case it was grease as it deminishes the signal which is marginal at best already. The ABS sensors dont linke noise, be it from brake squeel, noisy springs or anything else under there and this will also trigger the 3 amigos. If the lights come on and then go out after you hit 7km/h then it is an interittent fault, such as weak signals, but if they are on constantly it may have developed into a permanent fault. Just have to work through them methodically with the ABS Amigo plug. The ABS Amigo when you get it will tell you what the computer sees the problem as being, so you will have a lead on how to solve it.
    Cheers

thanks for the replies, guess will probably have to wait till the amigo turns up, might pull the sensors out tomorrow for a look anyway, the main thing that got me is for three to go out at once? was the way I tested the right way?

just remembered, after the lights came on I noticed the white plug next to the abs was not in properly, probably not working, plugged back in but no change, what does that plug do?

If 3 have all started together, Agree with Slunnie, I'm thinking loom connector.

If I remember correctly the modulator has 3 plugs – 4 if the shuttle valve switch board bypass modification has been performed. Make sure they are all good. The Left front has its own plug beside the modulator, the other 3 come in via a common loom, follow it down to the next plug, clean reseat.

cleared the faults and drove home 50 km tonight and havent reappeared so far, the negative battery lead was VERY loose, cant believe it would actually start but fixed now, any thoughts anyone?

Btw the handbrake light was also on but has disappeared as well

Been for a drive today, abs and tc lights came on twice when hitting bumps in the road, restarting turned them off
