Hello,
sorry didn't help, the other thing is are you using a Sandisk 2 GB I do know you can use bigger but maybe worth a shot, although sounds like you have tried everything already I believe office works sells them still.

Got the ECU back, thanks Paul. Worked perfectly. Plugged it in and off we went. Off we went, with a voooommmffff. Jose', nice tuning.
I really appreciate the time and effort Paul has gone to with assisting me.
It really is great to have contact to other Rover mad hatters (enthusiasts).
I recently met a fellow (Ben) that's new to Rovers. I gave him some cooling system hoses and advice about Rovers. And, will continue to help him into the great world of Rovers. If my karma repayment for helping Ben is Paul helping me, I'm miles ahead in my view.

Right idea - double it and pass it forward. Just imagine if the whole world could do that! Then again wars might start because there was no one left to help?

just before i post my nanocom off to offtrack to check i was trying to get my head around this.
qldmike - when you say yours is fixed is it that your nanocom is now uploading files ok or that your bricked ecu has been fixed and the map file put on it by offtrack and the nanocom still can't upload files?
if i can eventually get the file from td5inside loaded (say by offtrack onto an ecu), there is still no ability to have jose tweak/change the map as i wont be able to reload it. if the map turns outs to be unsuitable (not expecting this at all but it is for an auto td5 defender) it can potentially put my car off the road till the original one is reloaded.
thanks,
brett.
markndeb - thanks for the offer. tried replying to your message but would not allow it to be sent. it says you have turned off receiving messages or something else, can't recall now.
Hi all,
I´ve received an email from Offtrack and would like to say something in the interest of all regarding this subject:
When you guys send me your original map file, I work on that very own file wich has some sort of ECU to CAR/VIN/10AS or BCU code.
I wont change nothing regarding that code and I even add extra protection so that the file works in that very own ECU.
That said, if you try to upload the map file to some diferent ECU (even if that its a spare one) or diferent car there is the possibility of:
1 - The upload process wont start at all;
2 - The upload process start, but it stops at half the upload and you end up with a bricked ECU;
Just to ad some info, if you put that ECU in a different car and learn the security code from the 10AS or the BCU unit it will work and it will upload because the ECU is the same.
This is the only think that it´s supposed to happen with our map files. The other message that can pop um (very rarely) and has to do with the map is cheksum error, but in that case nanocom wont start the upload process so we are safe. You must report that to us and we will fix it! Appart from this, other sort of problems and conflicts are normally an interface (in this case nanocom) problem.
I think you all understand that we run a legitim business here and put a lot of efforts in development. We cannot take the risk of selling one map file wich is gonna be uploaded/copied to 4 ou 5 cars (that people think are the same - and may have diferent fuel tune ID, software and ECU part number) or its even going to be copied in one workshop and then reselled by that workshop.
For all that have been dealing with us allong the years you know we dont put restrictions to the number of adjustments made to one specific map tu suite the car, the driver and also the upgrades. Also, If someone for some reason has to change some faulty ECU, please get in touch and we will also help, converting the old map to the new ECU free of charge. Just dont go out and try to make the map file from your ECU work in a diferent ECU because you may end up with a crashed ECU.
Regards,
P.S. - Both Brett and Mike (world recordist of bricking NNN ECU´s) are diferent cases, because their cars are conversions and have alot of changes.
Unless Brett and Mike can better 6 ECUs each they are amateurs.
nah, not me. i don't even register in the bricking records.
i might be world record holder for time between getting map from jose and actually getting it loaded!
You are right Duane... your front runner mate
Brett, we have to sort your upload problems because I want you adjust your map till you be fully satisfied !!
Regards
