The fix for the problem is to correctly initialise the SDCard you are using. The best (only??) way to do this is to grab SDFormatter from https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

There were problems accessing some SDCard readers in the old versions so make sure you have the current release.

When you format the card you need to go into "Options" and then select "Yes" under Logical Address Adjustment. It's called something slightly different on the PC version but whatever it's called you need to tick yes

I usually select "overwrite format" as well.

I'd had huge problems with map uploads prior to BBS rewriting the map upload component of the Nanocom, and a lot of issues with uploads failing during verification after the changes were made. Since I've started using SDFormatter as above I've had no verification failures.

It's worth noting that with the current Nanocom firmware the protection verification failure happens before any data is written to the ECU so there is absolutely no danger that you'll brick the ECU if you get an error at this stage of the process.

thanks paul. did the reformat etc.
unfortunately either get same problem or it freezes in the verify process or i get the do you want to write to the ecu which then gives me the 'map not for td5' but no error.txt file was writtten to the sd card.
AND now my headlights don't work! buggered if i know how it could be connected but after watching the nanocom give 3 different responses multiple times as i tried it at least 8 or 9 times (freezing in two different places and asking me to write to the ecu then giving an error) to the same replicated process anything could be possible!
what's the next step - go buy another sd card and reformat again?

What type of card are you using? Size/Brand? I use San Disk cards and currently have a 2Gb microsd in an adaptor.

Had a quick peek at the PC version of SDFormatter, the option in that app is called "Format Size Adjustment" and needs to be set to "On".

You could try saving the .map file directly to the card from your email program or open it in a text editor and save from there. A few people have found this can make a difference.

No, anything is not possible!

The headlights are wired through the passenger fuse box and controlled by the switch on the stalk. There is no interaction with any of the D2 ECU's involved in turning them on.

On the other hand it is very possible for power supply issues to cause problems with the Nanocom. I'd suggest sorting out your wiring issues before you go any further.

Thanks Paul. Got a sandisk 8gb .sd card. Assuming the driver on laptop too old to handle greater than 2.gb as it's 2006. Tried updating but couldn't due to permissions as work laptop. Will try library but doubt be allowed to download a program on public computer but at least will get map onto .sd card to try.

Car is deefer 110 with no abs, tc, immobiliser etc. Dropped in and saw JC this morning who said it is the lightswitch. Got to hand it to the timing, was driving car with lights on for an hour, pulled up at home turn car off try loading map, it fails then turn car on and lights don't work. Didn't even get out of the seat!

Had formatted card with those options selected as you mentioned. Card was 1.gb, don't recall brand but been using it for years in cameras etc. Did buy a 4.gb card two days ago for this but wasn't recognised by laptop. Had read your posts about the formatting of the cards just ASSUMED might have got a relevant error message given this is a known issue with the changes being made to write to the nanocom prior to writing to the ecu. That was a good decision to make things a bit more robust and lessen the number of disastrous outcomes.

Oh well, will see what the library computers do.

still pulling teeth over here! tried to format 8gb sandisk sdhc card via library but as expected unable to download sdformatter software. had an IT shop do this as personal laptop is on the mainland.

when uploading file to nanocom, now get error message "map not for td5" after nanocom asks something like "do you want to write file to ecu". at this point it has been through the file verification process so assume the map file is written to the nanocom unit.

the nanocom instructions advise if you get this error message there will be a file written to the sd card 'error.txt' which may give an indication of what is wrong. no file has been written.

i tried load process about 7 times, say 3 times got the above mentioned error and the other the nanocom froze in different places. i'm yet to understand how with the same inputs/same upload process replicated the device can give different outcomes. maybe there is a clue there.

anyway, really would one day like to be able to use the map i've got from jose. any advice as to what is going on? the nanocom unit has the latest global firmware release.

Nanocom will only work with 2GB card or less and must be formatted FAT.

thanks roverv8 too. i would almost put my left one on it reading on this forum that it can now handle up to 8gb and others are using 8gb too. 8gb was the smallest i could findin the shops. formatted using sdformatter as per offtracks advice on forum.

have had another thought. the file name is > 8 char so it is being truncated by the nanocom with a ~ character. guess it is related with the old days with dos which could only handle up to 8 char. (have to go to town to try this library computer). any chance this might be the prob?
